RAC prepaid cashback card could earn members over £500 a year

The RAC has launched a prepaid debit card that could earn new members and existing members buying at least one extra product over £500 a year in cashback simply by using it at more than 60 of Britain’s best-known retailers and restaurants.

Anyone buying a new 12-month RAC UK Breakdown policy, RAC Car, Home or Motorbike insurance will be given the RAC Member Benefits card pre-loaded with £20, £50 or £100 depending on how many products they have purchased. Customers taking out one product will receive £20 on their cards, but if two products are bought this increases to £50, while for three the amount rises to £100.
 
In order to earn up to 15% cashback RAC members just have to use the debit card to buy goods, food, or services from the partner brands signed up to the scheme, adding further funds as required. Any cashback accrued can be spent with the partner brands which currently include: Asda, Marks & Spencer, House of Fraser, Debenhams, Homebase, Currys, PC World, Goldsmiths, Strada, Zizzi, Café Rouge and Laithwaite’s Wine.
 
Members can keep track of their balance and cashback earned on a simple, fully mobile secure website. The ‘chip and pin’ Visa debit card, which is valid for 36 months, is fee-free*** if used regularly and has no hidden charges. The minimum top up is £20.
 
RAC head of membership Alex Heath said: “We wanted to create a transparent loyalty scheme that wasn’t based on a confusing and complicated points-based system which would be really valued by our members. The RAC Member Benefits card couldn’t be simpler: the more products a member buys, the more cash they can earn. Once they have the card, all they have to do is top up the credit and then use it to purchase goods, food or services with our partner brands to earn valuable cashback rates.
