A major £50 million redevelopment project in Carlisle will take another step forward on Saturday (June 21) when the next phase of new homes goes on sale.

Located close to Heysham Park, off Wigton Road, Lovell is building almost 500 houses over a number of years. Almost half of the properties have already been completed and the latest phase, named Parkside, will feature a total of 65 new homes, 44 of which will be sold on the open market while 21 will be offered as affordable homes.

Clare Noakes, regional sales manager for Lovell in the North West, said: “Parkside is the next chapter for a very exciting redevelopment project, which is bringing a redundant site back into good use with high quality family housing.

“The venture will also provide much needed homes for first time buyers, offering an impressive specification and excellent value for money. Purchasers can also take advantage of the Help to Buy scheme, which could enable them to purchase with just a 5% deposit.”

The properties will initially be sold ‘off-plan’ from the existing sales centre at The Elms, Lovell’s previous development which is now sold out. A new sales centre and two stylish show homes will open this summer to showcase the Parkside properties to prospective purchasers.

Parkside is a modern development situated in an already well-established residential area on the edge of Heysham Park, a magnificent mile long stretch of greenery which includes playgrounds and sporting facilities.

Clare added: “We’ve invested substantially in the local area in recent years. The redevelopment project has created a number of construction jobs while the influx of new residents continues to stimulate the local economy by increasing demand for local businesses, schools and services.”

The homes will feature contemporary kitchens, with top name appliances, pristine bathroom suites and a host of other quality fixtures and fittings. Being brand new, they are designed to be more economical to run and, with the average three-bedroom semi-detached new build home’s annual energy costs totalling just £780, compared to £1,670 for a modernised equivalent-size Victorian property, the homes could mean long-term savings of £22,250 over the course of 25 years.

Situated off Wigton Road, Parkside’s location benefits from easy access to Carlisle and the M6, via the Carlisle Northern Development Route.

Belle View, Yewdale and Newlaithes primary schools and St. Bede's Catholic and Newtown Community junior schools are all about half a mile away, while the Richard Rose Morton Academy is the nearest secondary school.

Leisure activities in the locality include the children’s activity centre The Magic Castle, the Cumbria Indoor Bowls Club and a range of restaurants to suit all tastes.

Prices will be released at the preview event, taking place between 10am and 5pm on Saturday, June 21. For more information or to register your interest, visit lovellnewhomes.co.uk.
