Research from the Centre for Cities has revealed that 58% of highly skilled workers reside in cities, with Cambridge having the highest percentage of residents with top qualifications at 66%. Renowned globally as a centre for education, technology, science and healthcare research, Cambridge attracts skilled workers in their thousands and this number is on the increase due to expansion in these industries. Situated on the fringes of Cambridge, Novo in Great Kneighton is a no brainer for academics, researchers and skilled professionals looking to live in the city, offering a great range of homes located within easy access of the universities, research and business parks, and within a short bus ride or walk of the Biomedical Campus and Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Cambridge is internationally renowned for its academic heritage, with its university, which dates back to the 13th century, holding fast to its reputation as the world’s best. It has retained its position in the number one spot in the Guardian University league table yet again for 2015 . Cambridge also continues to be the UK’s most innovative city, with more patents granted per 100,000 residents than any other location. The city is also experiencing huge investment from organisations and high-tech businesses choosing this as their location for expansion. The new research and development centre for AstraZeneca will accommodate a highly skilled workforce of 2,000, while the IT and Science Park area, dubbed ‘Silicon Fen’, are the largest of their type in Europe.

Andrew Loveday, Sales and Marketing Director for Countryside comments: “We are witnessing an increase in demand for homes from people working in high skilled industries who are relocating to Cambridge with their families. They want to find somewhere that is convenient, attractive and low maintenance to live and the range of properties we have at Novo are perfectly suited to the type of skilled workers that the city attracts. In particular, ‘The Otium’ is a four bedroom family house that combines spacious flexible living space, covered parking and a fantastically convenient location.”

The Otium is a stylish three-storey family home which includes an integrated car port on the ground floor. The spacious open plan kitchen / dining / family area is perfect for everyday living, with double doors opening out onto the private and enclosed rear garden. On the first floor, another separate living room means different areas for the family to spend time and is the ideal retreat for adults. Both this living room and the master bedroom open out onto a sheltered terrace, which provides a peaceful outdoor room. Three further double bedrooms on the top floor allow plenty of room for guests and for each member of the family to have their own space.
Completed to an excellent specification, the properties include contemporary fitted kitchens with a range of integrated appliances including oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The luxurious bathrooms and en suites include white sanitaryware with cream floor and wall tiling, while the master bedrooms all include fitted wardrobes with sliding mirrored glass doors.

Situated on the southern fringe of the city centre, Novo is part of Great Kneighton, where Countryside is creating over 2,250 new homes and a wide range of community facilities, including a proposed health centre, shops, library, community square, sports pitches and a public art programme. A new 120 acre Country Park is currently being constructed which will contain woodland, four ponds including a 50,000m2 bird reserve, wetlands, allotments, playing fields for the proposed new secondary school, and a range of play areas, including an adventure playground.

Convenient for those working all over Cambridge, a new transport hub located within the new village square will ensure commuters can easily access the city centre and train station. From the train station there are regular services to London’s Liverpool Street and King’s Cross stations, as well as to Stansted Airport. By car, the M11 is only a few minutes away.

Prices for The Otium, a four bedroom house at Novo start from £660,000. For more information on Novo, visit novocambridge.com.
