The Heritage Motor Centre is continuing to celebrate its 21st birthday during the summer holidays with a host of family activities based around its new exhibition ‘21 Years, 21 Icons’. Visitors can explore a different icon every week from 20 July – 31 August with automotive themed drop-in activities running from Monday – Thursday.

Get ‘hands on’ on Mondays with artefact handling, join in with ‘Lego Technic Tuesdays’, become an engineer on ‘Wheelie Lego Wednesdays’ and get creative with ‘Auto Crafty Thursdays’. Simply pay your Museum entry and then drop in and join in!

Every Friday there are ‘Special Activity’ days with something different each week to entertain visitors. On 1 August, be a Junior Curator for the morning, finding out what a Curator does, with object handling, behind the scenes activities and museum designing. The session will run from 10:30am to 12.30pm at a cost of £10 per child which includes admission to the Museum and must be pre booked. On 8 August drop in on Fast and Furious Friday and race Mini's on the Scalextric track. On 15 August join children’s author Graham Jones for an action packed story day to find out about the Battle of Britain and Toby’s time travelling MG Car. On 22 August Fast and Furious Friday and the Scalextric track returns, and to finish off the holidays on Friday 29 August join the ScootSafe team for an hour long micro scooter workshop and learn how to ride your scooter and do simple tricks safely. Sessions are designed for primary school aged children and cost just £3 (Museum entrance is extra). Running at 10:30/11:30/13:00/14:00/15:00 - pre booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

In addition, throughout the holiday HMC is helping nearby Art Gallery, Compton Verney go the extra mile to break the record for the world’s longest line of bunting. HMC visitors are urged to join in and get creative with their bunting designs whilst at the Museum.

Emma Rawlinson, Life Long Learning Officer at the Heritage Motor Centre stated “We are delighted to continue the celebrations of our 21st birthday this summer with plenty of fun filled activities for visitors of all ages come rain or shine!”
