Elan homes in on Worcestershire property market

8th July 2014 Print

A housebuilder has pledged to build more new homes in Worcestershire after seeing the property market go from strength to strength in the last 18 months.

Since January 2013, average house prices in Worcestershire have increased by 5.95%.

Having recently sold the final home at its popular Blenheim Grange venture in Malvern, Elan Homes has committed to creating two new development in the county after securing planning permission at sites in Kempsey and Evesham.

The developer has now been given the green light to build a small development of just 10 properties, including eight for private sale and two affordable homes, off Main Road, Kempsey, called Derrington Mews. The development’s name honours Major General Edward William Derrington Bell who was awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery in action during the Crimean War in the 1850s. He was born in Essex but his family home was in Kempsey and he is buried in Kempsey Churchyard.

In nearby Evesham, Elan has been given the go ahead for a further development of two, three and four-bedroom houses and bungalows off Pershore Road. A total of 27 homes will be built at the location, with 11 allocated as affordable properties and 16 offered for private sale. The development will be named Merrybrook Grange as it is being built on land that was formerly part of Merrybrook Farm.

Andreas Nippe, sales director for Elan Homes in the South, said: “We are looking forward to delivering two new developments of family homes and bungalows in Kempsey and Evesham.

“Our homes are designed to look traditional on the outside but inside they feature well-specified modern interiors with fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms and high quality appliances and accessories as standard. As a privately-owned company, our efforts are entirely focussed on our customers and designing properties to suit their lifestyles.

“We’ve enjoyed success in Worcestershire in recent years and, with the property market continuing its upward trend, we hope that our forthcoming ventures will prove to be just as popular.”

Building work is due to start at Derrington Mews and Merrybrook Farm in late summer and the first homes will go on sale in early autumn.
