Independent UK operator Travel The Unknown has introduced a number of new tours in Southeast Asia, including Hidden Indochina, Hidden Vietnam, Hidden Cambodia and Mystical Myanmar. The small group tours (max 12 people) are from 14 to 21 days in duration, with the first departures in autumn.

Hidden Indochina is a 21-day tour that combines little-visited gems of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, revealing the true essence and diversity of the region, with highlights including attending a blessing ceremony at a remote monastery in Cambodia, exploring colourful tribal markets, visiting an elephant project and enjoying a boat trip to visit remote fishing villages in Laos to watch local weavers ply their trade.

In Vietnam, there will be guided tours to discover hidden corners of its two great cities - Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) plus a visit to the tribes of the Central Highlands to learn about their unique architecture and cemeteries.

The Hidden Indochina holiday departs on 3 October and costs from £2,995 per person (two sharing) which includes airport transfers, all land transportation, 20 nights’ accommodation, some meals, tours and entrance fees as detailed on itinerary and a tour leader (flights extra, bookable on request).

Hidden Vietnam provides a chance to explore the far reaching corners of Vietnam, well away from the tourist trail with highlights including a riverboat cruise in the Mekong Delta, visiting little-seen ancient temples and pagodas, and learning about the contrasting histories of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The 15-day tour departs on 10 October and costs from £1,995 per person (two sharing) which includes airport transfers, regional flights, all land transportation, 14-nights’ accommodation, some meals, tours as per itinerary (and entrance fees) and a tour leader (international flights not included, bookable on request).

Other new trips to Indochina include…

Hidden Cambodia – 14 days from £1895 pp (departs 12 October). Highlights include visiting pre-Angkorian temples, Buddhist pagodas and Hindu shrines, spending time with elephants, a dolphin trip, attending a blessing ceremony at a hidden monastery and discovering remote villages.
