Spotlight on Horsforth transformation
Total transformation of an old industrial site in Horsforth, Leeds, has reached a major milestone with four fully furnished showhomes opened and 12 new homes already sold.
On Friday July 18, the development was given an opportunity to shine in front of local community representatives, property industry professionals and suppliers, subcontractors and business advisers who have been involved in getting the project to this stage.
The official launch celebrated the early success of Horsforth Vale, where Redrow’s highly desirable homes have transformed the site of the Clariant Works. The former chemical manufacturing plant was remediated by Redrow’s sister company, Harrow Estates. In its place – and more in keeping with the lush, green surrounds - Horsforth Vale will eventually comprise 330 new homes, open space and two small retail units.
Homes are being sold from two outlets: The Green features two, three and four-bedroom homes, while The Limes showcases larger three, four and five-bedroom homes. There are two fully furnished showhomes for each.
Redrow’s regional chief executive Matthew Pratt, who hosted the event, said: “Horsforth Vale is a flagship development for Redrow in Yorkshire, featuring high quality new homes in a very sought-after area. It’s also an excellent example of Redrow’s ability to deliver large-scale housing on brownfield sites and, alongside those new homes, to provide a wide range of community benefits.
“In addition to building new homes, we are investing £13.7 million locally in affordable housing, education, public transport, footpaths and the surrounding road network. We are also improving the adjacent sportsfields and pavilion, which are used by many local groups, and we will be creating a new play area and allotments.”
The Horsforth Vale homes are from Redrow’s traditional looking, Arts & Crafts influenced Heritage Collection, with properties fronting Calverley Lane constructed in natural stone and slate to complement older stone properties in the vicinity. The development, is largely surrounded by greenbelt land comprising open fields and mature vegetation, the River Aire and Leeds-Liverpool Canal.
