With the recent hot weather in England fuelling speculation that 2015 will be another record summer, there’s no better time to make the most of having a home with outdoor space. Whether it’s for entertaining al fresco, spending family time or just relaxing in peace, there is an increasing desire among homeowners for living space where there is a seamless transition between indoors and out. At Aura in Cambridge, the stylish new homes incorporate well designed open-air rooms that demonstrate how people can use the outdoors as a continuation of their home.

Andrew Loveday, Sales and Marketing Director for Countryside comments: “We all know that good outdoor space contributes greatly to the value of a property, but more and more buyers want functional and well designed outdoor space that can be treated as another room. Just as we bring in interior designers to dress our show homes, we have a range of properties at Aura where the gardens and terraces have been landscaped by professionals to show off how best to use the space. Outdoor space is one of the main factors that influences people’s choice of home, especially among those house-hunting at the moment during what has shaped up to be a very warm and pleasant summer.”

The homes at Aura display a variety of exciting outdoor areas including an innovatively designed roof terrace to one of the four bedroom townhouses. The impressive terrace extends from the master suite on the top floor and runs the width of the property. This indulgent outdoor living room features ‘living walls’ stocked with layering of different plants providing a variety of textures and colours creating a 3D artwork. It is complete with a sumptuous seating area with a large fabric sofa designed for outdoor use, creating a relaxing place to lounge, ideal as an adults-only retreat. The French doors that access the terrace when fully open blur the distinction between indoors and out, while floor to ceiling glazing makes sure the interior is flooded with natural light.

The enclosed rear garden of the same townhouse is stylishly landscaped in a contemporary style making it a perfect haven for enjoying the summer weather. It incorporates a square lawn and circular gravelled seating area with central water feature edged with white render. A series of vertical wooden uprights fan out from the circle creating a sense of enclosure while also giving height. The strong geometric shapes of the design are offset by sumptuous planting, using varieties selected for being low maintenance. The new collection of mansions at Aura also incorporates carefully designed rear gardens that blend with the mature woodland beyond ensuring every property has a close relationship with nature.

Green open spaces are central throughout the Aura development and extend far beyond the individual gardens. Its homes are grouped around a series of shared gardens, linked together through a network of pedestrian routes that are interwoven among the landscaping and tree lined boulevards, giving a prevailing sense of space and greenery that blends with the surrounding countryside. Flanked by two mature woodland areas, Aura’s green opens spaces link directly with the wildlife corridor, providing uninterrupted views to the adjoining countryside, meaning plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors.

The luxury homes at Aura are just as well appointed when it comes their interiors with a high quality specification using the latest in fixtures, finishes and materials. The contemporary fitted kitchens feature gloss white handleless units with complementing white composite stone worktop and a full range of energy efficient, integrated appliances. The sleek bathrooms have stylish white sanitaryware with chrome accessories and harmonising cream floor and wall tiles.

Aura shares access to all the facilities of Great Kneighton, which is set around a new 120 acre Country Park again providing unrivalled access to extensive green open spaces and including allotments, bird reserves and playgrounds. In addition a whole host of other new amenities and community facilities are being created.

At Aura, residents are within easy reach Cambridge city centre, with convenient public transport links via the Cambridge Guided Bus route just moments away. Cambridge train station is just 1.5 miles away, offering fast and frequent links to London, while by car junction 11 of the M11 is only minutes away, offering a convenient route to Stansted airport in approximately 35 minutes.
