Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey Midlands will invest nearly £500,000 in local community facilities as part of a new homes development taking shape in Martley, Worcestershire.

The Hopyard at Martley is bringing 51 new two, three, four and five-bedroom homes to the village, including 20 affordable properties which will give local residents and key workers the opportunity to enjoy life in a brand new property within their own community.

Of these, 10 will be low-cost properties for sale to qualifying local residents, local workers or people with family living locally, subject to approval by Malvern Hills District Council, with the remaining 10 available for rent or shared ownership.

The £498,415 being pledged by Taylor Wimpey in association with the development includes a £219,504 contribution towards recreation facilities and public open spaces within the parishes of Martley and Clifton-upon-Teme and a payment of £189,599 to Worcestershire County Council towards local primary and secondary education provision.

Additional payments include £70,312 to improve transport infrastructure and services, £13,000 to provide a new wooden bus shelter and stop and £6,000 to improve walking routes to and from the site.

On top of these contributions, the development will bring additional investment to the local community through the New Homes Bonus initiative. This is a grant paid to local councils by the Government which is based on the amount of extra council tax revenue raised by the building of new homes. For each new home that’s built, the Government pays the same amount again to the local authority every year for six years, providing a boost to local funding.

Anne Wallace, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “Every single new home we build at Taylor Wimpey is part of a community, and we are committed to ensuring this exciting new development in Martley offers much more than just high-quality properties for local people.

“We are delighted to confirm our investment of nearly £500,000, which will help to improve public facilities and infrastructure for the benefit of the whole community, ensuring that this sustainable new homes development will both complement and enhance the local area.”

Two-bedroom homes are currently available at The Hopyard at Martley from only £179,995, with four-bedroom designs starting at £329,950 and five-bedroom houses from £469,950.

The Help to Buy equity loan scheme is available at the development, enabling eligible first-time buyers and existing homeowners to secure a Government loan for 20% of the full price of their new home – meaning they only require a 75% loan-to-value mortgage and a 5% deposit.

The Hopyard at Martley Sales Centre is located off the B4197, Martley, WR6 6QX, and open Thursday to Monday from 11am to 5pm. Alternatively, visit taylorwimpey.co.uk.
