Caring about care - New home care company will raise standards

29th August 2014 Print

An innovative home care company launching next month is ripping up the rule book – replacing outmoded and impractical care processes with state-of-the-art support software and systems.

Expertise Homecare has set its sights on revolutionising the domiciliary care sector, providing high-quality care and support to people across the UK and internationally through a network of franchises.

The business is built on four core principles of trust, transparency, quality and support, principles which form the basis of its offer to both franchisees and the people they will care for.

Its unique franchise model utilises the latest technology, processes and systems to ensure the highest standards of care are always delivered.

Expertise Homecare is owned and operated by care specialists Harriet Smith and Natalie Richards, who have extensive experience in the domiciliary care sector, having worked for both the NHS and private care organisations.

Harriet said: “Working in the sector, we have seen first-hand what works and what can be improved. We know there is a high and growing demand for quality home care in the UK which outstrips current provision and believe that Expertise Homecare will shape the future of adult healthcare provision.

“Our model retains the elements that we know work and replaces others with progressive and technologically advanced systems and solutions to provide a much higher quality, transparent service.”

Natalie added: “The home care sector has been using the same practices for decades. It’s time for a much-needed overhaul. Our innovative software and processes will raise the standard of care delivery in an open way that builds trust between our network of care providers and the people we care for and their families.”

An example of Expertise Homecare’s innovative software is its simple-to-use real time notification system. The system requires carers to chart their progress on a hand-held device as they complete each task during each visit – making paper care plans, hand-written records and notes, and incessant filing a thing of the past.

This significantly reduces a carer’s admin and form-filling workload, freeing up more time to devote to caring.

The software also sends automated e-mail notifications to family members, letting them see all completed actions – that a meal has been eaten or medication has been given.

This system makes the delivery of care more straightforward, helping to raise standards, and also provides families with much-needed reassurance and peace of mind that their loved-one is receiving the care they need.

Expertise Homecare has also partnered with independent review company Reevoo to give people the opportunity to post their comments and feedback online, further demonstrating its commitment to transparency. This tool will give people the ability to make a fully informed decision about the high-quality service they are buying.

Expertise Homecare, based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, will launch on Monday, September 1. The company already has two territories under offer, expects to have a minimum of 10 franchises operational in its first year and be looking at international growth in two to three years’ time.

People can find out more about Expertise Homecare and the opportunities available to them by attending an informal Discovery Day. The first regional Discovery Days will take place at The Abbey Centre, Great Smith Street, London SW1P 3BU, on Monday, October 13, and The Mercure Tunbridge Wells Hotel, Kent, on Tuesday, November 11.
