A Wrexham automotive business has welcomed a hat-trick of new employees as it looks ahead to future expansion.

Volkswagen Van Centre Wrexham has recruited two new service technicians, Ben Bithell, 24 from Wrexham, and John Bausor, 40, from Manchester, together with apprentice Gareth Davies, 21 from Wrexham.

The new appointments mean the Rhosrobin van centre has more than doubled its workshop division to meet the needs of the business and in preparation for a future workshop expansion, expected later in the year.

Throughout Ben’s seven years of automotive experience, he has specialised in the commercial vehicle sector working with various high profile brands. Having worked for the van and truck specialist, Imperial Commercials, Ben is transferring his knowledge and dedicating himself to the Volkswagen brand.

John began his automotive career as an apprentice in 1994 and has consistently worked in the commercial vehicle sector ever since building his qualifications and expertise. For the past eight years John has been dedicated to the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle brand.

Gareth embarked on the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles exclusive three-year training programme late last year. He had previously worked as an apprentice technician until he was forced to relinquish the role when his family moved away, so he is hoping to be fast tracked through to the final year of the apprenticeship, subject to him reaching the required standard.

Volkswagen Van Centre Wrexham aftersales manager, Dave Harries is delighted with the three new members to the team after a search to find the right calibre of employee.

He said: “Our customers’ businesses can often be put on hold when their van is off the road so I need a team that is dedicated and knowledgeable to ensure that this downtime is as minimal as possible.

“It’s vital for our business success that we find the right calibre of individual and this can sometimes be hard to achieve, so I was delighted when Ben, John and Gareth accepted the positions.

“Ben and John bring a wealth of industry experience having worked on commercial vehicles his entire professional career. And Gareth is so determined and enthusiastic that I feel confident he has a promising career here.”
