Canon has announced a significant update to its SoHo and small business print portfolio with the launch of Maxify, a new range of business inkjet printers designed to support the demand from small and home offices for high-volume colour printing.

Canon’s new Maxify inkjet printer range consists of four multi-functional devices (MFDs), the Maxify MB2050, MB2350, MB5050 and MB5350 as well as one single-function printer (SFP), the iB4050. The Maxify range provides small business customers with connected devices that produce professional quality colour printing and high-quality copying, scanning and faxing whether in or out of the office at a competitive price point.

Mark Robinson, Market Business Developer at Canon UK and Ireland, comments: “Small businesses are increasingly seeing IT as an enabler to drive business productivity. While we know businesses ultimately want reliable and cost-efficient printers, and connectivity features are becoming far more important. The ability to print anywhere – directly from mobile or tablet, or even from a range of cloud storage providers through dedicated mobile printing applications – means that SMBs can take the office with them like never before.

“Our latest research has revealed that many UK SMBs are missing out on the benefits of this technology because they are unaware of its potential or see mobile printing as complicated. Yet early adopters have told us the exact opposite, claiming that ease of use and speed are real benefits of this technology. Our new Maxify range has not only enhanced our offering to SMB customers, but allows us to deliver greater choice to business owners who value the freedom to choose the technology that will best support their business now and as it grows in the future – regardless of how far along they are in creating a truly connected workplace.”

Durable design for extra reliability

All of the models in the new Maxify range have been designed with durability in mind to reliably handle the high print volumes required by small and home offices. The devices in the range have been designed to support small and home office environments, with the Maxify MB5050, MB5350 and iB4050 designed to support higher print volumes of up to 1,500 pages per month.

The new devices also maximise productivity in the office with a First Print Out Time (ISO-FPOT) as low as seven seconds and A4 print speeds at 23 ipm for black-and-white and 15 ipm for colour. In addition, the Maxify MB5350 features Canon’s new Single Pass 2-sided Scan functionality, which allows both sides of the document to be scanned simultaneously, as a result allowing the scan and copy speeds to be enhanced and saving valuable time.

Business quality colour inkjet printing at a competitive price

Delivering high-quality inkjet printing at a competitive price, the Maxify printers use a new Dual Resistant High Density (DRHD) ink that has been designed specifically for the range. Building on Canon’s FINE ink technology, the new ink is specially formulated for business documents and is water, friction and marker resistant for extra durability. Allowing small businesses to produce high quality documents, the DRHD ink delivers striking black text and vivid colours on graphics, whilst also enabling small businesses to benefit from low cost per page printing.

The range delivers cost-effective colour prints thanks to new high-yield XL ink tanks. Aimed at home offices, the Maxify MB2050 and MB2350 produce up to 1,200 black-and-white pages, while the small office Maxify printers, the MB5050, MB5350 and iB4050, produce up to 2,500 black-and-white pages before cartridges need to be replaced, reducing printer downtime. Users can also benefit from up to 15% additional cost savings by purchasing Canon’s DRHD inks in multi-packs, which help small businesses to cut costs without reducing the quality of their printed documents.

Supporting a connected office

With a host of connectivity features, Canon’s Maxify range is perfect for flexible working and for office spaces where printers are shared by a team or small businesses. Wi-Fi connectivity allows the printers to deliver wireless printing from mobile devices. Canon’s Maxify Cloud Link offers printing from and scanning directly from the printer screen to cloud storage providers such as Evernote, Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive. In addition, Canon’s Maxify Printing Solutions App delivers similar functionality via a smartphone or tablet. The printers are also compatible with mobile printing solutions such as Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print.

The Maxify MB2050, MB2350, MB5050, MB5350 printers also feature Canon’s scan-to-email function, which allows users to save time and send scanned documents and images as email attachments directly from the printer.

Monitor and control costs

Gaining greater visibility of the printing habits of a small business also helps to identify usage patterns and arms small businesses with the information they need to control print costs. The new Maxify range has been designed with this in mind, featuring control options that allow business owners to restrict specific functions, for example protecting the ability to copy in colour by setting a password. The new printers also offer the option to keep a record of total volumes printed, scanned or faxed, to allow users to get a better picture of how the device is being used in the office.

Availability

The new Canon Maxify printer range will be available in the UK from October 2014.
