CBBC has launched its brand-new app, Wolfblood: Shadow Runners, for audiences to enjoy just in time for the start of the third series of the fantasy action drama.

The app is available for free on iOS and Android devices and it can also be played on the CBBC website via desktop.

A wolf without a pack is a wolf without meaning; you must smash, run, leap, creep, hide and follow the wolf scent to find your pack again and discover the hidden truth in the heart of the city…

This roaring wolf-running game features an ‘endless running mode’, which is an infinite version of the game with the objective to beat your furthest distance. The wolf runs automatically, and the player swipes to go left or right, up to jump and tap to smash. Another 17 levels will be unlocked in the app this autumn as the show airs on CBBC.

In the first 10 ‘Story Mode’ levels of the app the player is joined by characters Rhydian and Tom, who are voiced by actors Bobby Lockwood and Kedar Williams-Stirling from the fast-paced show. To mirror the TV show, a motion comic introduces each level. Written by show writer Sophie Petzal you play a wild Wolfblood who is separated from their pack after being chased by mysterious vans…

The following seven levels are unlocked weekly in conjunction with its counterpart episode of the show airing on CBBC, with each new level introduced with a motion comic from the show.

Cheryl Taylor, Controller, CBBC, said: “We wanted to give the CBBC audience a chance to truly be a part of the immersive Wolfblood world and take charge of the action. With the return of series three, they can experience what it would be like to be a Wolfblood teenager – make their own choices, follow their own path and run with the pack!”

Patrick Healy, Head of Products for BBC Children’s, said: “Unlocking new levels and content in an app alongside a series is a new approach for us, and Wolfblood: Shadow Runners is a great example of how an app can complement a TV show by providing a rich online experience across multiple platforms. We hope the CBBC audience will enjoy being able to explore the Wolfblood world whenever and wherever they are.”
