Homebuyers could snap up a three-bedroom home from £109,995 at Meadow Rise in Stockton this weekend (20 - 21 September) – and discover how the Government’s Help to Buy scheme could make their purchase even more affordable.

Barratt Homes North East is hosting a special first-time buyer event at the development, where an independent financial adviser will be on hand to explain the benefits of Help to Buy.

The equity loan scheme enables purchasers to buy a new-build property with just a five per cent deposit and a 75 per cent mortgage. The Government will lend buyers the remaining 20 per cent, with no interest to pay on that for five years.

It has proved highly successful and recent figures showed that more than 270 sales have been completed in Stockton since its launch in April last year.

Barratt has a wide selection of homes available through the scheme at Meadow Rise, including the popular ‘Palmerston’ design which offers over 750 sq ft of living space.

It has an open-plan living room, contemporary fitted kitchen with dining area and French windows, two double bedrooms, a third single bedroom, and family bathroom.

The property has energy-efficient heating and double glazing plus the exclusive Barratt five-year guarantee on fixtures and fittings.

At prices from £109,995, purchasers using Help to Buy would need a five per cent deposit of just £5,500.

Fenton Hewitt, Sales Director at Barratt North East, said: “The scheme is proving extremely popular.

“Buyers only need a low deposit, plus a 75 per cent mortgage, which means they can get a loan at a lower interest rate, making monthly payments much cheaper.

“This not only benefits first-time buyers but also ‘second steppers’ already on the property ladder. It’s a terrific opportunity to buy a bigger home with a smaller mortgage.”

Meadow Rise, just across the road from the University Hospital of North Tees, is proving popular with young families and professionals and has grown into a thriving new community, with more than 200 homes occupied.

Two showhomes are open from 10.00am to 5.00pm daily (11.00am to 6.00pm on Mondays).
