If you’re looking to buy a tablet computer, deciding on which brand to buy can be a difficult decision to make. There are many, many options available and each has their advantages and disadvantages. The key is to find which one will suit you and your specific requirements.

Even though there are different companies using different operating systems (OS), the main players in the OS field are IOS and Android. As well as operating systems, there are a plethora of companies all battling it out for their share of the action. Companies like Apple, Samsung, Toshiba, Sony and Google all have a range of tablet models on the market for consumers to choose from.

Major Competition between brands

The huge competition between these companies has turned out to be a great thing for the tech geeks out there. Each company has been battling with each other to provide the best tablet on the market over the past number of years. The big disadvantage to this rivalry is the large number of tablets available to buy. This can be both a good and bad thing – depending on which way you’d like to look at it!

There is also a new wave of tablets hitting the shelves. One such example is the Toshiba Encore 2 which is Toshiba’s first foray into the field of premium tablets, with a light and thin chassis and engaging display, encompassing what users are now looking for when buying a quality tablet. Lightweight usability doesn’t detract from what appears to be a growing trend in tablet usage, web-browsing and media consumption, with well positioned Dolby speakers for a crisper sound. When buying a tablet, there a many factors that should go into your final decision. The following information will give you some guidance if you’re looking to buy one.

Look and feel of the tablet

Make sure that you actually like the feel of the tablet in your hands. It may look really nice, but does it feel solid and secure in your hands? Since you’ll be holding it 99% of the time, this is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle.

Choice of Apps

This will depend on whether you go for an IOS device like the iPad or an Android device. Android currently have more free apps available for download than IOS, but the quality can sometimes be lower.

However, the major advantage that the android has over Apple is that their app store is less restrictive. They allow developers to create apps with a lot more flexibility and creativity.

Hardware

Android is open source and can be used by a number of companies, whereas IOS is restricted to Apple only. This means you can’t use an iPad without using the IOS software. This isn’t a bad thing though, as the software works really well and does exactly what you expect it to.

Conclusion

There are a ton of different tablets to choose from in the market today. Each has an array of qualities and features that may suit one person, but not the next. The iPad is still the tablet king for now, although the likes of Samsung are definitely creeping up slowly. The sheer number of different tablets today is good news though at the end of it all. The competition keeps the standard high and the features plentiful. If you’re looking to buy a tablet computer then think about what you’ll use it for and then shop accordingly.
