The Ram Quarter - Contemporary homes in London’s most exciting heritage, riverside location

The Ram Quarter, London’s most exciting new development south of the Thames, will provide 661 new homes on the site of the former Ram Brewery (most recently run by Young’s until the brewery’s closure in 2006) in the centre of Wandsworth. In addition to a landmark residential tower and over 9,500 sq m of space dedicated to new shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, this development by the Greenland Group will preserve many of the site’s historic buildings which will be restored and refurbished, including a new micro-brewery and a brewing museum.

The micro-brewery, an essential component of the scheme, highlights and maintains the Ram Quarter’s status as the longest continuously brewing site in Britain, with porter, stout and then beer brewed on site since at least 1581, and possibly as far back as 1512.

Access to the River Wandle will be opened up and landscaped to provide public access with the creation of a riverside walk, including a new footbridge across the river. An additional benefit for the area will be improved pedestrian access to the town centre, re-establishing the High Street as the centre of Wandsworth.

The first phase of the Ram Quarter development will include 312 studio, one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments and duplexes across six new three-ten storey buildings. Residents will enjoy shared gardens, public squares, views of the River Wandle and dining and shopping on their doorstep.

The River Thames and King George’s Park are located within close proximity, as are a wide variety of independent shops, cafes and traditional pubs along Old York Road.

There will be 248 underground car parking spaces available for separate purchase.

The Ram Quarter is very well connected, with trains running direct to Waterloo in minutes, the river bus to the City, and buses running day and night. For those heading out of town, Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airport are all less than an hour away.

Wandsworth, renowned for having one of the lowest average council tax rates in the country, is benefitting from the regeneration of Southside, which when it was built in 1971, was the largest indoor shopping centre in Europe and the largest of the UK Arndale Centres. With 530,000 square feet of retail space, Southside is still one of London’s largest shopping centres, anchored by Waitrose and with a new Debenhams opening in 2015.
