Jason Atherton and Restaurant Associates have announced that City Social has been awarded a coveted Michelin star in the 2015 Michelin Guide to Great Britain and Ireland. Situated in the City of London, on the 24th floor of Tower 42, City Social is now the UK’s only high-rise restaurant to achieve Michelin star status. Having opened in early May, City Social is one of the youngest restaurants to receive the accolade in the 2015 guide.

City Social, the 90 cover venue, is Jason Atherton’s fifth London restaurant, and is operated in collaboration with Restaurant Associates. Head Chef Paul Walsh’s menu features creative yet simple dishes, showcasing the best of the British ingredients. Walsh and the City Social teams’ drive, hard-work and ambition have been the reason for this excellent result.

Paul Walsh, comments on the result, “I am totally over the moon, it is so great to get recognition for all the hard work and long hours we have put in to making City Social a success. A huge thanks to all my team for this incredible achievement.”

Sue Thompson, Operations Director of Restaurant Associates says, “It’s fantastic to receive a Michelin star for City Social so soon after its opening. It’s been an incredible launch, and Jason, Paul and their talented team have worked tirelessly so the star comes as a worthy reward.”

City Social becomes Jason Atherton’s third Michelin starred restaurant, with his flagship restaurant Pollen Street Social retaining its one star for the third consecutive year, and Social Eating House retaining a star for the second year running. Social Eating House was praised for achieving star status in just six month in the 2014 guide; City Social follows this lead having been open for just four months and 24 days.

Atherton comments about the results, “A Michelin star is an incredible accomplishment and I am so proud of all my teams. There is no doubt that we will be opening a few bottles of Champagne at the restaurants tonight.”
