Horsforth - The perfect place for happy families

With open spaces and beautiful valley surroundings, a new housing venture in Horsforth is offering families one of the best locations for bringing up their children.

Redrow’s Horsforth Vale lies just north west of Leeds; a city which has just been just been named as one of the happiest places for children to grow up, beaten only by the East Anglian city of Norwich.

The poll, which saw 2,000 parents surveyed, was carried out by soft drinks firm Panda Drinks. Cities were rated on the availability of gardens, open spaces and safe places to cycle and play. Most of the factors that related to a happy childhood were safety related, with the presence of policemen on patrol, good street lighting, neighbourhood watch schemes and lollipop ladies at crossings all being important to mums and dads.

Patsy Aicken, sales director for Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) said: “The survey confirms what we already knew about Leeds and the surrounding areas and it’s great that so many parents agree.

“Creating a perfect environment for families is incredibly important to Redrow and we’ve invested £13.7m into the Horsforth community, which includes funding for education, public transport, footpath and highways works, improvements to local sports fields and their associated pavilion, plus the creation of a new play area and allotments. We’ve thought of all the things that parents want when it comes to creating a happy place for their children to grow up.”

Horsforth Vale, on Calverley Lane, will eventually comprise 330 new homes, open space and two small retail units. Homes are being sold from two outlets: The Green features two, three and four-bedroom homes, while The Limes showcases larger three, four and five-bedroom homes. There are two fully furnished showhomes for each.

The homes fit beautifully into the surroundings as they hail from Redrow’s traditional looking, Arts & Crafts influenced Heritage Collection. Inside they boast many family-friendly features such as convivial open plan living spaces and spacious bedrooms. Stylish fitted kitchens are well equipped with top brand name appliances included and bathrooms and en-suites feature contemporary white suites and quality fixtures and fittings.

The properties fronting Calverley Lane have been constructed in natural stone and slate to complement older stone properties in the vicinity. The development, is largely surrounded by greenbelt land comprising open fields, mature vegetation, footpaths and bridleways, perfect for children to explore and families to enjoy an ‘outdoorsy’ lifestyle.

Another boon for families is that the neighbourhood is well served by good quality schools and, with a choice of shops and active clubs nearby, there is plenty of opportunity for homeowners to be a part of the local community.

Homes are currently priced from £279,950 to £534,950. To find out more about how your family can be happy in Horsforth, visit redrow.co.uk/thegreen or redrow.co.uk/thelimes.
