Kelham House dishes up AA Rosette
Kelham House Country Manor, the independent luxury hotel near Newark-on-Trent, has been awarded a prestigious AA Rosette for its food offering.
AA inspectors were so impressed by the Kitchen Garden restaurant at the venue and its modern take on British and European classics, that they decided to acknowledge it as one of the county’s standout eateries.
The Rosette was awarded after a mystery visit from an AA inspector and now ranks the Kitchen Garden amongst the top 10 per cent of restaurants in the UK.
As Charlotte Davies, director of Heritage Estates Group, which owns Kelham House Country Manor, points out, it was one of the restaurant’s signature dishes that really captured the attention of the inspector:
“As a chef of 20-years himself, he particularly enjoyed the starter of Devon Crab Crème Brûlée and said he was actually really mad at himself that he had never thought of that as a dish!
“We’re thrilled to have been awarded the Rosette as it’s something we’ve been working towards for the past two years. We take pride in ingredients that we source locally and also the modern elements that we introduce to some well-known dishes.
“For us, it’s about offering our core customers food they can connect with but also something with a little bit of adventure!”
The team at Kelham House is now working towards its second AA Rosette, as well as exploring exciting future plans for the restaurant:
“An expansion could well be on the cards,” confirmed Charlotte. “The idea is only in the planning stage at the moment and we have a number of options, but we would certainly like to expand the Kitchen Garden to allow even more people to join us for lunch, afternoon tea and A La Carte evening meals, as well as special occasions.”
The announcement of the AA Rosette follows news of a three star AA rating for Kelham House Country Manor’s accommodation earlier this year, as well as a Certificate of Excellence from review site Tripadvisor and a Booking.com Award.
