Work to create a new development in Taunton is set to underpin jobs locally as well as provide homes for the local area.

Five star housebuilder David Wilson Homes says that 144 people will be involved in the construction and sales of the new phase of development at Langford Mead – with most being local sub-contractors and tradesmen.

"The Prime Minister has said again and again that one of the best ways to boost economic growth and get people working is through building more homes," said sales director Louise Ware. “Our work here demonstrates how this theory works in practice.”

Louise said that in addition to the local construction jobs underpinned in building the homes, new developments like this have a positive economic impact on the region.

“Local councils benefit from increased council tax revenue and new residents provide a valuable revenue stream for existing businesses in the area.’’

She said that new developments including Langford Mead also play a major part in supporting traditional towns and villages and their local communities.

David Wilson Homes, which was recently named a five star housebuilder for a record fifth year in a row, is set to build 72 new homes on the new phase at Langford Mead with the development offering two, three, four and five bedroom homes.
