A landmark new homes development in Northampton has heralded its first birthday with the sale of its 75th property.

Marina Gardens in Duston was officially launched by Mayor of Northampton Councillor Les Marriott in September last year, signalling the start of a major regeneration project on the site the of the former Princess Marina Hospital.

Since then, buyers have flocked to the development, attracted by the range of three and four bedroom family homes being constructed by Persimmon Homes.

Debbie Box, sales manager for Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “The transformation of this prominent site has been warmly welcomed by local people – with many of them being among the first to snap up new homes on the development.

“The location of Marina Gardens, close to the amenities of Dustan village and Northampton town centre, is an important factor, along with the practical house styles available, which are appealing to young professionals, growing families and older downsizers.

“So far, 75 properties have been sold on the first three phases of development, and we have our new phase being launched next month, and buyers are already asking when those plots will be available to reserve.”

Just one home remains on phase three of Marina Gardens, a four bedroom detached house offering spacious accommodation over three storeys, available at £264,950.

Debbie added: “We have seen a lot of interest in the Government’s Help To Buy scheme, which enables people to move into their dream home with just a five per cent deposit.

"Those looking to trade up have also been accessing our HomeChange scheme, where we have marketed their existing property for them, saving time and money.”
