A landmark renovation project in the heart of Balham will be unveiled to the public this weekend.

Revival is a joint venture between Fairview New Homes and Annington Homes to rejuvenate a former MoD housing scheme in Atkins Road.

The transformation is nearing completion and house-hunters are being invited to take their first look around.

Over the past year the existing buildings have been stripped out and reinvented as fresh, modern apartments. A new block has also been constructed, creating a total of 45 refurbished and 29 new homes.

Fairview Sales and Marketing Director Jim Holliday said: “We’re extremely proud of the transformation Revival has brought about. The buildings are virtually unrecognisable from those we set about refurbishing last year.

“We believe we’ve created a development that will appeal to both the young and the young at heart in Balham. And with Help to Buy available across Revival, we can help first-time buyers to take that all-important first step onto the housing ladder.”

Two-bedroom apartments at Revival are the first to be released, with prices starting from £349,000. Help to Buy is available on both the new and refurbished plots, so purchasers only need a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage to secure their new home. The remaining 20% is provided as an equity loan from the government which is interest-free for five years.

As well as bringing a brownfield housing site back into use, Revival will generate a £250,000 investment in Balham itself. The developers will contribute more than £90,000 towards education, just over £30,000 for health services, nearly £38,000 for local parks and open areas and almost £25,000 to support Balham Library. Sports and leisure facilities, public art and children’s play areas will also benefit from the investment.

Jim Holliday said: “Balham’s popularity is soaring and it’s easy to see why, with first class transport connections and leafy avenues, plus green areas like Clapham Common on its doorstep.

“Buyers have identified this as an area where prices will continue to rise and know that now is the time to buy a property here to maximise its potential.”

The marketing suite and show apartment at Revival are open daily from 10am to 5pm. For more information see fairview.co.uk.
