Green light for 251 new homes in Bicester

Planners have given the green light to 251 new homes at Bicester.

Persimmon Homes aims to start work on the site, to be known as The Oaks @ Kingsmere, towards the end of the year following approval by Cherwell District Council.

Richard Oldroyd, managing director for Persimmon Homes Midlands, said: “This is an exciting development in a most desirable location. Our plans include homes to suit a range of buyers, from those looking to get on the property ladder for the first time to families seeking more space as they grow.”

“The area has terrific motorway links together with rail links to London and is also close to the Bicester Village shopping centre, so offers something for everybody.

“The development, located on the existing Kingsmere Village, will include 251 homes and public open space whilst also taking advantage of the wider scheme including leisure facilities and new primary school.”

Potential buyers are invited to register their interest in the homes via the Persimmon Homes website – persimmonhomes.com – to be first to find out when properties are released for sale.

The Government estimates around 300,000 new homes need to be built each year to meet the demand that has grown since the economic downturn of 2008. It has put in place a raft of measures, such as a review of planning regulations, providing finance for large-scale infrastructure projects and helping individuals to access affordable mortgages through schemes like Help To Buy.

Across Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, Persimmon aims to build around 500 homes this year and is currently recruiting more bricklayers and carpenters to enable the company to develop more sites in 2015.
