Learn why now is the time to buy in Halling with Help to Buy

Aspiring homeowners in Halling could find they already have enough for a deposit on a brand new home thanks to Help to Buy.

Using the Government backed equity loan scheme a deposit of around £13,600 could be sufficient to secure a brand new four-bedroom home at St Andrews Park. That’s almost half of the £26,100 estate agents Your Move and Reeds Rains say the average first time buyer pays.

This is because Help to Buy allows purchasers to take out a Government backed equity loan for up to 20% of the price. By reducing the initial outlay it means customers should typically only need a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage

To explain more about the scheme, Redrow is holding a special event at St Andrews Park this Saturday (November 8).

Kerry Jenkins, sales director for Redrow Homes (South East) says: “Help to Buy is a great way for those who aspire to own a home of their own to make that all-important first step onto the property ladder sooner rather than later. As purchasers using the scheme should typically only need a relatively small deposit of around 5% those who have been saving may find that they already have enough in the bank to put down a deposit on one of our four-bedroom homes at St Andrews Park.”

Current prices at St Andrews Park start from £271,995 or an initial outlay of £217,596, including a deposit of around £13,600, with Help to Buy. The remaining 20% share is covered by the equity loan, which is interest free for five years.

“It’s not only the availability of Help to Buy that makes our new homes an attractive prospect for first time buyers, but the other savings that buying a brand new home brings too,” Kerry explains.

“For example, our customers won’t have to worry about finding extra cash for essentials like an oven, microwave and fridge-freezer as these are included in the price. Unlike some older, second hand properties, there’ll be no need to spend time and money on repairs and renovations; and, thanks to a host of energy efficiency measures, new homes are more economical to run so buyers should save money on their fuel bills.”

The new homes at St Andrews Park enjoy a fantastic location set against the backdrop of chalk cliffs, looking down to the River Medway and across the Medway valley.

It’s an ideal base for commuters thanks to easy access to the M20 and M2, which are around three miles away. Trains from Halling station reach London in little over 45 minutes. The village itself has a Post Office and local shop while Bluewater Shopping Centre is just 13 miles away.
