Discover the secret to aspirational village living for less

Buyers who want to escape the stresses of city living could find that moving to the village of Hamstreet, near Ashford, is more affordable than they realised with a visit to Saxon Woods.

Homes at the Redrow development enjoy a best of both worlds location – an idyllic village setting with good local amenities just an hour from London St Pancras from the local station.

And while the homes are very much aspirational, buyers could find that they’re easier to afford than they anticipated thanks to Help to Buy. Redrow is hosting a special event this Saturday (November 8) to guide customers through the scheme.

Kerry Jenkins, sales director for Redrow Homes (South East), says: “Moving to somewhere like Saxon Woods is something many people dream of but perhaps think is beyond their means. What they may not realise is that homes, within just an hour’s commute of London, are considerably cheaper than properties in the capital. In fact research by Lloyds Bank suggest the difference could be more than 50%. Factor in Help to Buy and the potential savings could be even greater. We’re extending an open invitation to anyone considering moving to Hamstreet to join us this Saturday to discover more about the valuable incentive.”

Help to Buy is available on all new homes priced up to £600,000. The Government backed scheme allows those who may not have substantial savings or much equity in the property they’re moving from to purchase a brand new home with, typically, a 5% deposit. If that wasn’t enough, the scheme also offers buyers the chance to take out an equity loan for up 20% of the purchase price. The equity loan is interest free for five years and can be repaid when the customer has more funds available or when they resell.

Saxon Woods offers a choice of four and five-bedroom homes. Current prices start from £344,995 for a four-bedroom York. This spacious semi-detached property could be snapped up for an initial outlay of £275,996 with Help to Buy, with the remaining 20% covered by the equity loan.

Located on Lancaster Close, Saxon Woods is just a short walk away from Hamstreet station, putting London St Pancras within an hour’s journey. There’s also a choice of schools nearby and a bustling village centre that’s home to shops and eateries. Homeowners can explore the local area via a myriad of footpaths or take a stroll along the towpath of the Royal Military Canal or through Hamstreet Woods Nature Reserve.

To find out more about Help to Buy, visit Saxon Woods this Saturday (November 8). For more information about the homes available see redrow.co.uk/saxonwoods.
