A Bristol nursery is offering parents the chance to bring their babies, toddlers and pre-school children along to a free session which aims to give a glimpse into nursery life.

The Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-School just off of Thicket Avenue in Fishponds is running a series of Stay and Play sessions for local families as a way to introduce children to childcare.

The first session will take place on Thursday 6 November from 10-11am where children will celebrate firework season by creating some sparkly crafts.

Mama Bear’s owner Bev Driffield said: “We have created our Stay and Play sessions as a way for families to see what we are all about while children are kept occupied with fun and developmental activities.

“Choosing childcare is one of the biggest decisions a parent has to make and feeling confident with the people you are leaving your child with is so important. Coming to look around a nursery to view the facilities is great but seeing for yourself how well your child fits in, how the staff interact with children and getting a sense of our values is even more useful.

“We are so committed to providing the very best care for children and making sure they are happy, healthy and ready for the next step up to primary school.

“If nothing else these sessions will be great for parents looking for something fun and different to do with their child for an hour.”

Mama Bear’s is run by Bev along with her husband Tony. Established in 2002 the group now includes 19 nursery settings in Bristol, Somerset and Devon.

The family run organisation has gained a reputation in the South West for offering the highest quality, affordable care and has been awarded an Outstanding grade by OFSTED every year since 2009.

Bev continued: “At the next Stay and Play session held at our Fishponds nursery we will be making some sparkly firework crafts, so why not come along and join us! We also offer free nursery experience days for those who want to find out even more.”

Other Mama Bear’s Stay and Play sessions planned will take place on Thursday 20 November from 10-11am where children will explore how to stay safe near roads and Thursday 4 November from 10-11am where children will enjoy festive treats and make Christmas cards for loved ones.
