Affordable family living at Spring Grove
Local people are showing lots of interest in a range of 47 new family homes at ‘Spring Grove’ a Home Group shared ownership housing development in Chadwell Heath, since the site officially opened a week ago.
The new two and three bedroom family homes are available to people living or working in Barking and Dagenham looking for an affordable way to get onto the property ladder.
Councillor Saima Ashraf, deputy leader at the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, cut the ribbon to unveil the new homes and announce the show home open for viewing. She said: “I am delighted to officially open the new homes for shared ownership at Spring Grove. The new properties will give families in Barking and Dagenham a more affordable way of owning their home, helping them get a foot on the housing ladder and benefit from lower energy bills too, thanks to the energy efficient features.
“Barking and Dagenham is proud to be a leader in delivering homes for our residents in a variety of ways, including working with developers and affordable housing providers to offer a range of housing solutions. We are committed to growing the borough, and encouraging the building of high quality homes within a sustainable community is key to this.”
With shared ownership, buyers purchase a share in a home and pay a monthly rent on the share retained by Home Group. Through a process known as staircasing they can gradually buy more shares in the home as they can afford to and eventually fully own their home.
