Kiwi Experience unveils three new products

23rd November 2014 Print

Award-winning hop-on hop-off bus company, Kiwi Experience, is delighted to unveil three new additions to its legendary New Zealand network. The brand new Kiwi Encounter stop in Rotorua and the Rangitikei Farmstay on the North Island, an optional overnight add-on, have now been incorporated into popular Kiwi Experience passes while the Lake Mahinapua overnight stop will be available from mid-January.

Lake Mahinapua is a historic stop on the Kiwi Experience circuit and has become a focus for Mike Warren, one of the company’s co-founders, who is committed to rejuvenating the area. Following a full refurbishment, the Lake Mahinapua overnight stop will be available from mid-January for Kiwi Experience passengers travelling on the majority of National and South Island passes including The Whole Kit and Caboodle, Funky Chicken and Southern Round Up.

As well as stunning lake-sidewalks and bicycle rides the Lake Mahinapua stop will offer a volleyball court, basketball hoop and petanque court. With comfortable accommodation and a traditional West Coast-style pub, Lake Mahinapua is great for bonding with new friends over good-value hearty group meals, local boutique beers and games of pool. There is even a carving and craft shed where guests can make their own carving to take away and remember their time on New Zealand’s rugged West Coast!

Kiwi Experience has also incorporated a new short stop to the Kiwi Encounter conservation centre into all northbound North Island itineraries to support its little feathered namesakes. This exciting partnership with Kiwi Encounter in Rotorua, New Zealand’s largest and most successful kiwi conservation centre, aims to help kiwi numbers recover across New Zealand. Having hatched and nurtured over 1,350 eggs Kiwi Encounter offers behind-the-scenes tours of a working kiwi nursery and hatchery for Kiwi Experience passengers to meet the country’s most iconic native species. Kiwi bus passengers will be offered a special entrance fee of $15 (approximately £9.50) which will go directly to the kiwi recovery program. rainbowsprings.co.nz/247/kiwi/kiwi-encounter

The historical, rural town of Marton on New Zealand’s North Island is home to Kiwi Experience’s Rangitikei Farm overnight stay which is run by fourth-generation farmers Andrew and Kylie. The 630 hectare farm has been in the family for over 110 years and offers passengers the chance to see New Zealand’s famed sheep farming up close. The Rangitikei Farmstay is an optional add- on available for passengers travelling from River Valley and includes accommodation in the original farm homestead, a full day of farmyard and petting farm activities and a continental breakfast for $125 (approximately £61) with two nights priced at $200 (approximately £98). Guests can also take a dip in the pool before their Kiwi BBQ dinner on the deck and special Rangitikei Farm campfire pudding. rangitikeifarmstay.co.nz
