Chelmsford City Council has been awarded the highest number of Green Flag Awards for parks in the region , recognising the quality of the city’s green open spaces. Chelmsford is home to 1,507 acres of public parks, 11 of which have been granted Green Flag status. Home buyers looking for a city centre home with the benefits of attractive well-kept parklands close by should look to Bellway’s Marconi Evolution in the centre of Chelmsford, Essex.

Chelmsford, the county town of Essex, was granted city status in 2012 and is currently reaping the rewards, including an upgrade to the city centre, with a John Lewis department store due to open in 2016, and the newly refurbished mainline train station. Currently available at Marconi Evolution are a selection of one and two bedroom apartments, and three and four bedroom houses that are ideal for buyers looking to enjoy the benefits of greener city living.

Speaking about the location of the new homes, Karen Coulson, Sales Director at Bellway Homes Essex comments: “Marconi Evolution is perfect for those who want to get the best of both worlds, to live within the buzz of city life, but still enjoy plenty of green spaces. The new homes are ideal for those who like the great outdoors, with many parks in the city awarded Green Flag status recognising the pride the city takes in its green spaces. At the same time the homes are just right for those who like to be at the heart of everything, minutes from the city centre and all it has to offer.”

The new homes at Marconi Evolution enjoy open plan kitchen / living / dining areas which boast modern fitted kitchen units, and integrated appliances, such as an electric oven and fridge/freezer. Bedrooms are spacious, with built-in wardrobes and en suite shower rooms to master suites.

All properties are designed to a contemporary specification, including wall tiling, white sanitary ware and chrome finishes to all bathrooms and en suites. Many of the apartments have a private balcony or terrace and the houses enjoy private gardens and a dedicated parking space.

The county town of Essex holds two theatres and a cinema for evening entertainment, as well as four leisure centres for any fitness enthusiast. With two shopping centres, Chelmsford has many high street shops, with a plethora of independent boutiques and shops within the city’s “West End” on Moulsham Road and Baddow Road. International food can be bought on the Friday and Saturday markets with a selection of delicious local and exotic international produce.

The development is also within walking distance of two of the UK’s top grammar schools - Chelmsford County High School for Girls and the King Edward VI Grammar School, making the new homes at Marconi Evolution ideal for families.

Great for commuters, Marconi Evolution is only a short walk from Chelmsford mainline train station and is only one stop from Shenfield, which will have Crossrail connections from 2018. Average journey times into the capital are around 35 minutes, with up to six services an hour running to London Liverpool Street. By road, the A12 provides direct access into London and links to the M25 at Junction 28, while the A414 joins the M11. Both Southend and Stansted Airports are approximately half an hour away by car.

Prices at Marconi Evolution start from £249,995 for a two bedroom apartment as well as three bedroom houses from £349,995. A number of the homes are currently available with the government’s Help to Buy scheme. The scheme provides an equity loan from the government of up to 20% of the value of the property, leaving the homebuyer to find a deposit of just 5% and secure a mortgage of up to 75% for the balance.

The sales and marketing suite is open daily from 10am until 5pm, with late night opening on Tuesday and Thursdays until 7pm. For more information, visit bellway.co.uk/new-homes/essex/marconi-evolution.
