Widnes first-time buyers are being invited to take a look at the well-priced homes at Barrow’s Green after research has shown that a fear of price may be holding some people back.

A survey for online estate agent eMoov.co.uk has highlighted that when it comes to buying a new home, 40% find that house prices are a deterrent.

However, at Redrow’s Barrow’s Green venture in Widnes, the homes are priced to be more affordable and are available with Help to Buy - ideal for quelling that fear. A Help to Buy equity loan makes it much easier for first-time buyers to take their first step onto the housing ladder.

Claire Jarvis, sales director for Redrow Homes (NW) said: “We’d urge those keen on buying their first home to visit Barrow’s Green as they might be pleasantly surprised at what they can afford with the aid of Help to Buy.

“Many people have found that the scheme has made a considerable difference to their borrowing power as they only need a relatively small deposit of around 5%, plus a 75% mortgage from their chosen lender. The remaining 20% share is covered by the equity loan, which is interest free for five years.”

The three-bedroom ‘Broadway’ and ‘Evesham 3’ designs are perfect for first-time buyers as, along with the lounge and dining area and separate kitchen downstairs, two of the three bedrooms are doubles, one of which boasts an en suite.

Prices at Barrow’s Green start from £159,995 for an ‘Evesham 3’ but with Help to Buy, the initial purchase price could be reduced to £127,996 with a deposit potentially as little as £8,000.

Despite the low price, those who purchase a new home will still benefit from Redrow’s high standard specification. All of the homes at Barrow’s Green hail from the housebuilder’s Heritage Collection which marries Arts and Crafts style exteriors with contemporary interiors, ideal for those who don’t want to embark on any big DIY projects as soon as they move in.

Well equipped kitchens boast integrated top brand name appliances such as oven, hob, microwave and fridge freezer, with bathrooms and en-suites featuring sleek modern suites with quality fixtures and fittings.

Part of the Cheshire borough of Halton, Widnes has become an increasingly fashionable place for homebuyers in recent years.

Work is underway on the Mersey Gateway Project, which will provide residents with a second Mersey crossing by autumn 2017 between Runcorn and Widnes , meanwhile they can already enjoy the recently opened £40m Tesco Extra and the New Widnes Shopping Park.

To see inside the homes at Barrow’s Green or to find out more information about the development itself, visit redrow.co.uk/barrow. Alternatively, house hunters can visit the venture on Barrow’s Green Lane daily between 10am and 5.30pm, except on Mondays when it opens at 11am.
