As Great Britain waits to see what another winter brings an independent vehicle Rental Company, based in the South of England, has expanded its range of brand new 4x4’s in a bid to prepare for the uncertainty.

MC Rental has invested over £2 million in various types of 4x4’s. Its 2,300 vehicle strong fleet, which contains everything from small cars to large tractor units, now has a new collection of vehicles ready to tackle tough conditions.

The additions include Range Rovers and Land Rover Discovery’s and Defenders, alongside double cab pick-ups such as Mitsubishi L200’s, Toyota Hilux’s and Ford Rangers. According to MC Group sales director Dave Hutchins “The vehicles add different dynamics to our fleet and help meet the needs of our varying customer segments. Each product has been chosen for its durability, wide scale driver acceptability and performance on and off-road, particularly in difficult terrain.”

The company sees the investment as a good way to remain flexible should bad weather hit. Hutchins explains “We all know how unpredictable the weather is. Every year brings the possibility of freezing conditions and the disruption associated with it. We are taking no chances and have increased our offerings so that we are better equipped to help our customers by reacting quickly should the weather take a turn for the worse.”

“The cost implications severe weather has on our customers can be huge, by expanding the fleet in advance we are aiming to help keep them moving and therefore reduce those risks”

Working in conjunction with MC Rental is sister company MC Truck and Bus, which is also looking ahead at the possibility of freezing conditions. By stocking up on items such as shovels, rock salt, screen wash and anti-freeze, it is aiming to respond quickly to provide transport customers with important tools.

Employees across the company’s eight depots are also on hand to offer advice. Hutchins says “We realise by having this equipment now saves crucial time and we want to be able to respond to any surges in demand. Our team are always happy to offer technical or parts and product advice, particularly when maintaining vehicles safely in the winter.”

“However in cases of severe weather and treacherous conditions our main concern is the safety of our customers and employees. First and foremost we always recommend taking the advice of local highways agencies and listening to travel warnings.”
