BBC One wins top five most popular shows on Christmas Day 2014

BBC One kept tradition by coming out on top on Christmas Day with the top five most popular programmes across drama, comedy and entertainment including Mrs Brown’s Boys, EastEnders, Strictly Come Dancing, Call the Midwife and Miranda.

Hit comedy series Mrs Brown’s Boys retained the Christmas Day crown for the second year running and was the most watched programme on Christmas Day in 2014, with an average audience of 7.6 million viewers.

Charlotte Moore, Controller, BBC One says : “It’s fantastic to see millions of viewers choosing BBC One with the top five most popular shows on Christmas Day. Audiences tuned in for an incredible range of quality programmes from drama, comedy and entertainment; with Mrs Brown’s Boys taking the top spot for a second year running.”

BBC One’s peak time average audience and all day average audience were both higher than any other channel
