Some long-range forecasters are predicting this will be a colder than average winter. For many home owners, the thought of keeping a property warm during a particularly cold snap leads to worries about increased heating bills. However someone living in a new build property can expect to pay less than half the cost in utility bills compared to someone in an older home. For those who want to stay warm and cosy this winter without racking up high bills, the stylish new build family homes at Bellway’s Bishop Cuthbert development in Hartlepool offer energy efficient living in a family friendly setting.

According to research from the NHBC and Zero Carbon Hub, living in today's new homes could create annual savings of around 55%. Comparing the indicative energy consumption of today's 'upgraded' Victorian homes against new homes built to 2010 requirements; it concludes that a 4-bed detached new home could save £1,312 on energy costs.

Bishop Cuthbert has impeccable eco credentials, the homes include such energy saving features as A-rated appliances and low energy lighting to energy efficient boilers and superior insulation, every measure has been taken to reduce the property’s carbon footprint and therefore its running costs.

Rob Armstrong, Sales Director at Bellway Homes said: “Whether the long-range weather forecast comes true or not, all of our residents at Bishop Cuthbert can rest assured they are living in an energy efficient home that means they won’t be paying dearly to keep warm this winter. People have settled for paying high utility bills for their draughty period properties for far too long. Most people probably don’t realise quite how much money they would save on running costs if they lived a new build home but the figures speak for themselves.”

Bellway has a range of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom semi-detached and detached homes available at Bishop Cuthbert which start in price from £116,995.

The two bedroom Ash is an ideal starter home providing 637sq ft of living space. The lounge / dining area measures 12’ x 14’ and includes French doors to the rear garden.

The first floor comprises a family bathroom and two good sized double bedrooms each measuring around 12’ x 9’ and offering plenty of space for wardrobes.
