In 2010 the UK’s second steppers choice of new home was a three bed semi-detached house, but according to recent research by Lloyds Bank, buyers are looking to get more for their money and plan for the future, by skipping the second step and heading straight for a four bedroom detached property, outside of the city. Horsted Park in Chatham by Countryside is the ideal home for families looking to skip a rung on the ladder as it offers a range of large four bedroom family homes.

Set in a beautiful parkland setting, surrounded by the beautiful Kent countryside, prices for a four bedroom property start from £350,000 with Help to Buy, meaning buyers need only put down a 5% deposit to secure their future family home today.

Iain McPherson, Managing Director of Countryside’s New Homes & Communities South Division comments: “Kent has become increasingly popular as buyers can get a lot more for their money than in London, yet it is ideally positioned for those who still need to commute into the City. The homes at Horsted Park have seen a lot of interest from young families, as with the Help to Buy scheme it can help them achieve a larger home sooner than they thought possible. This early investment in a bigger property means they avoid paying moving costs and stamp duty each time they need more space, but now families are finding everything they need in these house designs. They also really like the strong community feel the development offers to families.”

Horsted Park occupies the site of the former Mid-Kent College and neighbours a Napoleonic Fort, providing a unique backdrop. Architecturally the Housing Design Award winning properties reflect the rural vernacular of Kent ‘farmsteads’, using materials such as textured brick panels, clay tiles and dark wooden boarding. Some of the houses feature superb fully glazed integral conservatories, whilst others have glazed gables both of which maximise natural light inside the home.

Interiors are completed with a high quality specification and thoughtful layouts to make the most of space. Stylish kitchens are fitted with Clay Oak base units and ivory gloss wall units, and come complete with the full range of integrated appliances. Bathrooms have sleek white sanitaryware with chrome accessories. Each home has its own enclosed rear garden and landscaped front garden, with dedicated parking space.

The three storey, four bedroom home Aveley house design is a perfect example of the stunning houses available at Horsted Park. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms and a family bathroom, which are ideal for children and guests. Upstairs on the second floor, the master bedroom features a stylish en-suite shower room, with the final bedroom benefitting from a skylight that fills the room with natural light.

Designed to a great specification, the Aveley features a fully fitted kitchen with laminate worktops and a range of integrated appliances including stainless steel double oven, ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. The bathrooms are finished in white sanitaryware with chrome taps and heated towel rails.

From Chatham station, less than two miles from Horsted Park, direct rail services operate into several central London mainline stations including St Pancras International, Victoria and Cannon Street, meaning many options for travel into London. By road, the M2 is less than a mile away giving rapid access to the M20, M26, M25, the Dartford Crossing and London Airports, as well as the Channel ports and tunnel.

The Government backed Help to Buy scheme provides an equity loan from the Government of up to 20% of the value of any property under £600,000, leaving the homebuyer to find a deposit of just 5% and secure a mortgage of up to 75% for the balance.

Prices at Horsted Park start from £317,500 for a three bedroom house and from £350,000 for a 4 bedroom property. For further information, visit horstedpark.co.uk.
