Samsung has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Education, a tablet built exclusively for education to inspire students to work better, faster and smarter. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Education will be on display on the Samsung stand B358, along with new education technology, such as the 82” eBoard with Magic IWB 3.0, Samsung’s e-board with integrated interactive touch display and the Gear VR, a virtual reality learning tool for higher education.

Galaxy Tab 4 Education

The Galaxy Tab 4 Education (10.1 inch) addresses the unique needs of classrooms, specifically durability, manageability and access to digital learning resources. It inspires students to work better, faster and smarter, and discover limitless possibilities on-the-go. Developed for education, the Tab 4 Education demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to delivering innovative 1:1 learning experiences that improve student outcomes. It integrates with Google Play for Education, which provides access to an ever-growing selection of teacher-approved content, and allows the purchase of apps and content via a school PO with no credit card required. With its NFC technology, the Tab 4 Education allows administrators to set up an entire classroom of tablets in minutes, rather than hours.

The multi-window capability of the Tab 4 Education allows two multi-window supported apps to be open at once. The large WXGA 10.1" display, Android 4.4 Kit Kat and quad-core processor help to maximise speed and productivity, and the 16 GB memory and MicroSD card slot for up to 64 GB of additional storage help to ensure ample storage space. The dual band Wi-Fi ensures that all students in a classroom are able to access the Internet at once. Front and rear-facing cameras (3 megapixel rear, 1.3 megapixel front) encourage creative learning possibilities, and Bluetooth 4.0 allows the convenient use of wireless accessories. Work can be printed directly to a Samsung printer via the Samsung Mobile Print app. Its durable Gorilla Glass makes it ideal for life in and out of the classroom.

Samsung’s eBoard with integrated touch and Magic IWB 3.0

Samsung’s 82” eBoard with integrated touch and Magic IWB 3.0 software is a large format display with touch screen. It has been designed as a powerful communication tool to increase student participation, while enhancing the learning and information-sharing by connecting multiple displays and user devices through its e-board connection. It lets students share documents on the big screen and displays up to four different screens at once.

The new Magic IWB software brings interactivity and collabouration to an even higher level. Equipped with optional touchscreen technology, the display delivers greater brightness and FHD quality than ever before and the upgraded interactivity features helps to keep audiences engaged which improves the overall learning experience.

Files and other materials can be shared on student devices or between e-boards, even when the devices are in separate locations. Teachers can monitor and control students' devices using the Magic IWB Agent programme installed on students' devices. Interactive features include a touchscreen and Touch Pen for taking notes and drawing, and the ability to use PowerPoint, images, videos and Adobe animations to immerse students in the learning experience.

Distortion and glare-free viewing deliver improved picture quality and the software allows students to access Microsoft Office applications and PDFs with the ability to write and save notes. Instructors can open or share the files on the displays while presenting, writing notes or saving the files without the extra steps usually required for file conversions, saving valuable time and effort.

Gear VR

In 2014, Samsung introduced the next generation in wearable technology, the Samsung Gear VR, enabling users to fully immerse themselves in a cinematic virtual reality environment. Powered by Oculus technology, the Samsung Gear VR delivers a completely new way to experience and consume mobile content. Samsung will be showing how the Gear VR could be used in a higher education environment as a complimentary virtual reality learning tool, to aid the teacher or lecturer. At the show, Samsung will be demonstrating how using the Gear VR can bring subjects to life in ways not possible before, for example, transporting students back in time for history lessons or bringing them closer to space exploration in science lessons.

Samsung’s stand is located in London’s ExCel Stand B358 and comprises of experience zones and functional areas. Visitors to the stand will be able to find out more about how Samsung's Connected Classroom can facilitate collabourative learning, distance learning, the digital curriculum and the future of innovation. Samsung’s education technology partners such as Kortext, Fuze, BrainPOP and C-Learning will also be present, showcasing how they are helping to improve education for teachers and students.
