Get the look - Sarah Jessica Parker’s New York Town House

For many, Sarah Jessica Parker is the epitome of style. She is the actress behind Carrie Bradshaw, the driving character behind the phenomenally popular sitcom Sex and the City – the programme documents Carrie’s progress from freelance writer, to Vogue staff writer, to author, amidst a whirlwind of cosmopolitans and high heels. Now Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick have once again put their Greenwich Village townhouse up for sale, giving prospective buyers (and un-prospective ones) the chance to take a look inside the $22million pad.

Of course, the house is outrageously stylish. A red-brick affair built in 1846 that spans five floors and 6800 square feet, it doesn’t show its age at all. Large windows let in tons of natural light, making the 12.5 foot ceilings seem even loftier. The garden is tiered, naturally, and is accessible via the walnut wood and stainless steel kitchen. There are seven fireplaces in total – one of which is in the master bathroom; speaking of which, the master bathroom is part of the ‘Master Floor’, which is essentially one huge bedroom that opens out onto a 12x25 foot terrace. Sarah’s famous walk-in wardrobe is also a feature – the space is huge, in wardrobe terms, and features a custom-made spinning shoe rack. The bedroom is almost minimalist but still homely, with a sofa and chairs, and a stylish blue lamp for reading.

Your home may not have mansion proportions and entire floors dedicated to guest accommodation, but you can copy the ‘look’ of Sarah’s pad, without spending a fortune. If you have room for a sofa in the bedroom then great, but if not you can still add a Parker-esque vibe to your living room with this couch, from Furniture village. Isn’t it almost identical?

Sofa

Having two small coffee tables instead of one makes it easier to move the room around and create space if necessary. We’ve found these from Ikea – we don’t know where SJP got hers from, but these are just as nice.

The canvas on the wall adds a subtle quality to the room; you may not have noticed it straight away, but actually it offsets the windows brilliantly and seems to add to the light in the room. This wall canvas from Photowall will do exactly the same, and unlike the thousands that Sarah probably paid for hers, Photowall’s wall mural is much more affordable.

Bedroom

You can find chairs similar to the ones in the master bedroom from topfurniture.co.uk, and a rug to go underneath is available from wayfair.co.uk

As one of the most stylish women on the planet, Sarah Jessica Parker is well worth copying but don’t forget to add your own personal touches, and let your inner fashionista shine through.
