A landmark renovation project in the heart of Balham which has transformed a former MoD housing scheme into a vibrant new community is nearing completion.

Fairview New Homes began work to renovate the buildings on Limerick Close, off Atkins Road, in early 2014. The existing buildings on site were stripped out and rejuvenated to create a range of contemporary new apartments, while a new block was also built, creating a total of 45 refurbished and 29 new homes.

The development of one, two and three-bedroom apartments was given the marketing name Revival and now, with all of the plots at the development reserved, Fairview is putting the finishing touches to this milestone project.

Jim Holliday, Sales and Marketing Director for Fairview, said: “Revival was named to reflect our aspirations for this site, and we are very proud of the transformation which has been achieved with these former MoD housing units.

“Revival has transformed these tired-looking buildings, which had been used as temporary accommodation for some time, into fresh, modern homes, with the new block of homes complementing the renovated buildings.

“We pride ourselves on our record for refurbishment and renovation, and Revival is just one example of what we can do to refresh a lacklustre site and bring it up to a standard which meets modern housing needs.

“As well as bringing a brownfield housing site back into use and transforming this corner of Balham, Revival has brought almost £250,000 of investment to the local area through contributions which we have made as part of the planning agreement for the development.

“We are delighted to have given this site a fresh lease of life by creating Revival, and with the time approaching for us to move on, we are confident that we will be leaving behind a much-improved location within thriving Balham for our residents to enjoy for many years to come.”

Under the planning agreement for Revival, Fairview has made a number of financial contributions to support the local area, including more than £90,000 towards education and just over £30,000 for health services.

Nearly £38,000 has funded local parks and open areas and almost £25,000 has been provided to support Balham Library. Sports and leisure facilities, public art and children’s play areas have also benefitted from the investment.
