The powers that be at Great Golf Adventures have one thing in common; they all love adventure travel and they all love a round of golf!Hence, great Golf Adventures, which does what it says on the tin, combining busy itineraries to get under the skin of the destination interspersed with rounds of golf at some of the world’s most interesting and picturesque courses, many in spectacular settings.

One of the latest trips to be added to the rapidly growing list of options is the eight-day Cadiz: A Golf Tour with a Difference which includes six rounds of golf in this corner of south-west Spain renowned for its ‘Bodegas’ (sherry houses).

Accommodation for the holiday is at a four-star hotel at Barossa Beach, in the small seaside town of Chiclana de la Frontera, 12 miles from Cadiz.

Following a welcome dinner on the first night, the first round of the trip will be played at the Golf Novo Sancti Petri, inaugurated in 1990, which was the first golf course in Spain designed by the legendary Severiano Ballesteros. This will be followed by an afternoon tour of Cadiz.

The next morning the group will be driven 25 miles, to Jerez for 18 holes at the par 72 SherryGolf course, which is just a couple of miles south of Jerez, with wide fairways, big greens and lots of water. The round will be followed by a tour of Jerez and a visit to one of the town’s famous Bodegas for a tour and a sherry tasting.

Day four features another round of golf at Santi Petri but the rest of the day is free for some R&R or maybe a bike or horse ride to explore the area.

The next golfing test will take place at Montenmedio, which is situated about 25 miles from Chiclana, a par 72 playing 5868 metres off the yellow tees.

After the round, the group will drive to the nearby village of Vejer De La Frontera, which is one of the famous pueblos blancos, or white villages, several of which dot this part of south west Spain. A recommendation is a visit to the Plaza De Espana, for a chilled fino and some olives whilst watching the world go by.

The last two days are spent golfing at Campano Golf Club and Montecastillo, a golf club dubbed ‘The Wentworth of Spain’.

The holiday departs on 2 July and 17 October and costs from £1095 pp which includes all transportation, seven nights’ B&B, six rounds of golf with buggies, sightseeing tour of Cadiz and a tour leader.
