An iconic new homes development on the former Goodyear site in Wolverhampton continues to appeal to city house hunters with more than half the homes now sold.

Akron Gate, on the A449 Stafford Road, has seen the transformation of the former site into a desirable residential community, boosted by the addition of an Aldi supermarket and the Gatehouse pub.

Stephen Cleveley, sales director for developer Persimmon Homes, said: “Akron Gate has been consistently popular since we launched here three years ago – and continues to appeal to a wide range of house hunters.

“We recently refreshed the variety of properties available and the new styles have attracted even more interest from first-time buyers, young professionals, growing families and also mature downsizers.

“In fact, we’ve now welcomed 173 households to the site, including 21 homes on the Promise House phase of the development.”

Overall, more than 300 homes are planned for Akron Gate, delivered in conjunction with St Modwen.

Properties are priced from £94,950 and Persimmon’s sales advisors are able to offer information on the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, which allows people to purchase their new home with just a five per cent deposit.

Stephen added: “Akron Gate is the West Midlands’ flagship development, on one of the key routes into Wolverhampton.

“The transformation of the site is brilliant to see, breathing new life into this part of the city, especially with the i54 enterprise zone just up the road, bringing hundreds of new jobs to Wolverhampton – it creates a real buzz of excitement about this end of town.”

The sales office at Akron Gate is open seven days a week. For more information visit persimmonhomes.com or call into the development on Stafford Road.
