Sundridge Park

Two hundred years ago Sundridge Park was the finest address in Kent, now history is repeating itself as Millgate launches a new collection of outstanding properties inspired by the Georgian splendor of this prestigious location. Once owned by nobility and frequented by royalty, Sundridge Park was the vision of Humphrey Repton and John Nash who created one of the finest country estates. As Millgate releases the new homes at Sundridge Park on to the market, a brand new show home is now available to view, showing how new residents will once again live like royalty in this exclusive and enchanting setting.

In creating the impeccable range of new townhouses and apartments, as well as two detached mansions, Millgate’s aim was to take the classical style and principles of design as inspiration, but create timelessly elegant homes that deliver the highest level of luxury for how people live their lives today. With luxurious interior design by acclaimed design practice Alexander James, the show home is an impressive four-bedroom townhouse set over three floors, showing off the exceptional living space that befits the illustrious heritage of the estate.

Jonathan Cranley, Sales and Marketing Director for Millgate, said: “Sundridge Park has an esteemed history as one of the most complete examples of a Repton and Nash masterpiece, as well as having been a favourite haunt of royals in the past. That vision two hundred years ago to create an exclusive English country living experience is something that remains central to our plans for Sundridge Park. As we unveil the new show home, we are sure that purchasers will be impressed with this modern interpretation of Regency grandeur.”

Set in the context of this great historical house and its gardens, Sundridge Park has a feel of regal exclusivity and it is not hard to see why royalty were charmed by the estate and its majestic grounds. In the nineteenth century, the Prince of Wales – who was later King Edward VII – regularly came to pheasant shoots at Sundridge Park at the invitation of its owner and his friend, Sir Samuel Henry Scott. Napoleon III – nephew of Napoleon Bonaparte – was also a regular visitor, figuring as a guest of honour at London society events of the time.

Designed with a discerning downsizers or a cosmopolitan family in mind, the signature interior style of the show home is classic contemporary luxury, with bespoke furniture and specially commissioned artwork to appeal to those who appreciate the finer things in life. The property is accessed through a large, imposing entrance hall, immediately setting a stately tone, furnished with a large geometric desk and antique mirrored bookcases. The large open-plan kitchen, dining, family room is a bright and airy space with a sociable central island and seating area, which is sure to be the hub of the home. The generous first floor drawing room opens out to a private terrace, providing the perfect vantage point from which to enjoy Repton’s beautiful landscape.

The interior colour scheme is a sophisticated palette of greys, whites and taupes, offset by splashes of teal as an accent colour, for example the bespoke teal runner in the hall, which makes a vibrant statement. A range of opulent materials and textures are used to create the feeling of luxury such as the pleated fabric wallpaper alongside the staircase and the finishes in the master bedroom including a velvet chaise, a faux fur throw and a metallic fabric upholstered headboard wall, all creating the feel of a five star hotel suite.

Throughout the very best specification is selected and coupled with the meticulous attention to detail of Millgate’s master craftsmen, the finish is never anything less than perfect. The top of the range kitchen incorporates a quartz worktop, the full complement of integrated appliances from leading designers including a wine chiller, while underfloor heating, beautifully finished bathrooms and built-in wardrobes are all included as standard.

Stacey Sibley of Alexander James Interiors comments: “The new show home at Sundridge Park perfectly demonstrates the happy harmony between modern design and classical elegance. We also offer a complete bespoke interior design service, where one of our dedicated professional designer’s works with the purchaser from concept through to completion, to help them create their perfect home tailored to their own individual tastes.”

Reached via a half-mile secluded driveway, the classical landscape of Sundridge Park was one of Repton’s early masterpieces, designed to complement the Grade I listed Nash mansion. These glorious gardens and grounds are being fully restored for residents to enjoy. They will also be able to take advantage of the grounds and facilities of Sundridge Park Golf Club, which offers two championship golf courses.

With quality independent schools and shopping nearby, residents will be spoilt for choice in this advantageous location. Rail connections into Central London from nearby Elmstead Woods station reach Charing Cross in just over 20 minutes, whilst the M25 motorway, as well as Gatwick, Heathrow and London City airports, are all within easy reach.

Prices start at £695,000 for an apartment and £1,250,000 for a townhouse. The two detached mansions are priced at £3,095,000 and £3,250,000. For more information, visit millgatehomes.co.uk.
