Leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is bringing a host of benefits to the Lincolnshire village of Branston as it puts final touches to the details for their detailed planning application for its exciting new development in Lincolnshire.

The new development, off Mere Road and Sleaford Road, will comprise 198 much-needed new houses with some bungalows, including 69 affordable homes which will give local residents and key workers the opportunity to enjoy life in a brand new property within their own community.

The new homes will also provide jobs for local subcontractors and support for local companies – in fact, it’s estimated the development will create 32 full time jobs on site, and a further 48 in the wider supply chain.

Once the new residents move in, they’re expected to spend £995,000 on further goods and services as they tailor their new property into the home of their dreams – while on average they’ll spend a total of £4,283,037 in the wider economy each year and pay an estimated £207,000 in additional council tax revenue to the local authority, which will go back towards the sustainable community and local residents. Again this will support a further 32 jobs in the wider community as customers spend locally on their new homes.

The local council will also benefit from extra grant payments totalling £1,392,000 over the first six years as the development is completed from the Government in the form of the New Homes bonus for increasing the number of new homes built in the area.

What’s more, Taylor Wimpey will be making significant financial contributions towards improving facilities in the local area as part of the planning agreement, including:

£589,000 towards primary or secondary education
£54,825 for local healthcare
£43,500 towards traffic signal controls on Sleaford Road and Silver Street
Financial contributions for off-site public open space improvements within the parish
Off site highway improvements to Sleaford Road (B1188) including a new bus stop, a painted traffic island and a pedestrian island
New footpath improvements on Mere Road
Provision of a new community facility
New public open space on the development

Dominic Harman, Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, says: “As a local housebuilder we are delighted to be an important contributor to the local communities in which we build our new homes, by bringing investment, new facilities and new employment opportunities to the area.

“We are looking forward to bringing a wealth of benefits to Branston with the launch of our new homes here. As one of the country’s top housebuilders, we are a great company to work for, with industry-leading health and safety standards. We will of course be looking to identify new sub-contractors and tradespeople to tender for work at this exciting new development.”

Construction work on the new homes at Branston has already begun with some preparation works and the archaeological excavations, with the first new homes expected to be released for sale early next year.

Located in the friendly and peaceful community of Branston, the development is surrounded by beautiful open countryside, yet lies close to the amenities of the village and attractions of the historic cathedral city of Lincoln.

A range of local facilities for everyday living is available in Branston, including a food store, a post office and a doctor’s surgery in the village centre, with further facilities located and planned around the village, including schools for children of all ages.
