In the market for a luxury new home in Farnham

With their history, architecture, community spirit and picturesque surroundings, England's market towns are particularly attractive places to live, commanding higher prices than the areas around them. According to research by Lloyds TSB, buyers pay a premium of 12 per cent or almost £25,000 for property in a market town over the average price for property in the rest of the county. One of Surrey’s prettiest towns, Farnham is a prime example of the charms of a market town and here Millgate is creating Highcroft, an exclusive collection of premium family homes. The development has proved highly popular, with only one of the three spacious detached properties still on the market.

Farnham is a historic gem on the edge of the Surrey Hills, surrounded by rolling countryside, with an ancient castle and some of the finest Georgian architecture in south east England. It lies within the borough of Waverley, which regularly appears near the top of ‘best places to live’ lists. Proving popular among families who are moving out from London in search of better quality of life, the Farnham property market is thriving and it is no wonder that interest in the homes at Highcroft has been strong.

Jonathan Cranley, Sales and Marketing Director of Millgate comments: “Farnham offers that idyllic combination of perfect country living in a pretty town set in stunning scenery. After the great success of our previous development in Farnham, buyers in the area have come to know that Millgate is synonymous with the highest standards of luxury and quality. Anyone interested in one of our fabulous homes in this special location should come along to our open day on 4th July, as we do not expect the remaining property to stay on the market for long.”

Set in secluded, gated grounds on the prime southern side of Farnham, Highcroft is less than a mile from the mainline station, making it ideally located to enjoy everything the market town has to offer. In order to blend with the Georgian architecture that Farnham is known for, the architecture at Highcroft is designed along traditional lines, with a timeless style to the generous proportions and elegant brick facades.

Beaufort House is the one property still available, offering spacious, comfortable living accommodation. The stunning open plan kitchen, dining and family area includes a light-filled orangery opening onto beautifully landscaped southerly facing gardens. The layout offers versatility so the separate drawing room and dining room offer additional space for all members of the family, while the double integrated garage provides plenty of storage space. In addition to five spacious bedrooms, there is a media room on the second floor and the master bedroom boasts a private terrace with views toward the surrounding woodland and countryside.

The specification is exquisite and Millgate’s attention to detail is never anything less than perfect. The kitchen features bespoke hand-painted floor and wall cabinets, together with granite and composite stone work surfaces and a wooden breakfast bar. The kitchen features a double bowl farmhouse sink and a full range of appliances including a Falcon range cooker, integrated Miele microwave and dishwasher and an American style fridge/freezer and Caple wine chiller. In the utility room a Siemens washing machine and tumble dryer are provided along with a water softener. The bathroom, cloakroom and en suites are equipped with bespoke vanity units and white Villeroy and Boch sanitaryware and contemporary chrome furnishings.

As a market town, Farnham has a long history with a market held here since the Middle Ages and its castle dating to the 12th century. Its narrow streets and delightful courtyards offer a wide variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs and art galleries, many of which are housed in listed buildings. The medieval deer park, which was formerly the residence of the Bishops of Winchester, is now a pleasant park that overlooks the town.

Nowadays Farnham’s market takes the form of the regular farmers’ market, as well as the weekly country market at Farnham Maltings, the town’s vibrant community arts centre. The town also has a large Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, as well as boutique shops and High Street stores providing for everyday needs. From Farnham station journey time into London Waterloo takes less than an hour. On the boundary between Surrey and Hampshire, Farnham is just 12 miles from Guildford and 29 miles from Winchester.

Having an open day on 4th July 2015, Beaufort House at Highcroft is on the market from £2,050,000. For more information about our open day on 4th July or to book an appointment, visit millgatehomes.co.uk.
