New homes development set to create 700 jobs

16th July 2015 Print

Up to 700 jobs will be created after Persimmon Homes was granted planning permission to build 230 homes in Shropshire.

The development will be located at Shillington Drive, in Battlefield, Shrewsbury, after it was given the green light by Shropshire County Council.

The site will be called Archery Fields, a nod to Battlefields past as it is the site of the Battle of Shrewsbury, and it is set to include two to five-bedroom properties.

As a result around 700 jobs will be created with the first properties due to be completed in late 2015 and early 2016. Work will begin on the site in August with homes available for sale in the coming weeks.

Tim Brickley, director in charge of Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “We are delighted that we have obtained a detailed planning consent which now allows us to move forward with our plans to start work on this development, which will be called Archery Fields, and aim to launch the site by the end of August.

“We will be providing a real diversity of house types to suit all needs. In turn, this development will also create many jobs boosting the local economy.”

Archery Fields underlines Persimmon Homes West Midlands’ commitment to building much-needed properties in Shropshire.

It is already investing in the county in three other sites, Meadow Grove in Newport and Waterside View in Ellesmere, and Coppice Grove in Lawley, Telford.

Sixty ones homes have been created in Newport while a further 64 properties make up the Ellesmere site.
