Those who long to leave London for the quiet life of an Essex village will need to act fast to avoid disappointment.

King’s Park in Lexden, near Colchester, offers a commuter haven within an hour’s journey to the capital.

The 31-home development was officially launched in January and is now approaching a sell-out with only five houses and two apartments available.

Kerry Jenkins, sales director for Redrow Homes (Eastern), says: “King’s Park continues to attract a good mix of purchasers ranging from first time buyers to growing families, downsizers and everything in between. They all recognise that the development offers a winning combination of high specification homes in a sought-after village location with good local amenities and strong commuter links. These factors have helped make King’s Park a success and now that availability is limited we’re encouraging would-be homeowners to contact us without delay.”

Despite small numbers available, there’s still plenty of choice including two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom homes with prices ranging from £278,995 to £674,995.

Properties priced under £600,000 are available with Help to Buy. The Government backed equity loan reduces the initial price of an apartment from £278,995 to £223,196. Typically those purchasing a home with Help to Buy should only need a 5% deposit, plus a 75% mortgage from their chosen lender. The remaining 20% is covered by the equity loan, which is interest free for five years and can be repaid when purchasers have more funds available or they resell.

Those looking to buy a family home at King’s Park who have a property of their own to sell could find that they’re able to move quickly and simply with part exchange.

“Whether you’re an aspiring first time buyer or a homeowner looking to move up the property ladder we can help make your dream move a reality,” Kerry adds.

“In some cases we may even be able to secure a buyer for the customer’s property with our Mastermove service so that they can then purchase a brand new home with Help to Buy.”

Situated just a mile from the centre of Colchester, residents of King’s Park will benefit from having a wealth of amenities close to home.

It’s a great base for commuters as trains from the local station offer journey times to London of less than an hour.
