'Right-size' your home in Garstang

Easy to maintain and efficient to run, new Redrow homes in Garstang are proving popular with downsizers.

A large percentage of the properties at Canal View have been sold to people moving to somewhere smaller and more manageable.

Claire Jarvis, sales director for Redrow Homes (Lancashire), says: “The wide variety of homes at Canal View has attracted keen interest from a range of purchasers. We’ve welcomed a good mix of homeowners including first time buyers and families, but the vast majority of buyers have been people downsizing or rightsizing. Even some of our largest properties have been sold to empty nesters who want somewhere more manageable but still have the space for friends and family to come to stay.

“In particular we’ve experienced a lot of interest from people living in Cumbria and the Lake District who, perhaps, still want the rural environment they’ve been used to but the comfort of knowing they are close to major towns and cities and all their amenities if they need them.”

Preston, Lancaster and even Manchester are all within reach.

“Whatever their housing needs, the one thing our customers all have in common is that they appreciate the ease of living that a brand new Redrow home has to offer. We can even help ease the transition from old to new with our Mastermove service enlisting tried and trusted agents to secure a buyer for the house the customer wants to move from,” Claire continues.

Once a new home has been selected, the award-winning housebuilder’s Mastermove scheme could help homeowners sell up and move on quickly, avoiding any lengthy chains – and paying their estate agent’s fees.

The homes available at Canal View include a range of three and four-bedroom styles. Prices start from £314,995.

Designed and built with pride the homes are easy to manage and unlike some older, second hand properties they won’t require costly repairs or maintenance. They also boast a host of energy efficiency measures so buyers who move from a draughty old home could find their fuel bills are lower.

“The beauty of a new build home is that instead of inheriting someone else’s décor you can customise it to your own personal taste and move straight in as soon as it’s ready,” Claire adds.

Situated in The Toppings, Canal View is handy for the centre of Garstang and its wide range of amenities. As the name suggests, it’s also close to the Lancaster Canal which means there are plenty of nice walks on the doorstep.

Last year, The Sunday Times noted Garstang as one of the Best Places to live in the UK, thanks in part to it becoming the world’s first Fairtrade Town in 2000 and its thriving market.
