Hands-free scooter craze to take the UK by storm
The launch of a brand new two-wheel, self-balancing electric scooter means Brits are now catching on to the latest gadget trend sweeping the States – with celebrity fans from both sides of the pond including Justin Bieber, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Nick Grimshaw.
The new Smart Glider boasts all the features of similar models seen in the US, and is now available to UK customers exclusively from online retailer Futurewheels.com. At 13kg, the portable gadget has a powerful 132W motor and can reach speeds of up to 10mph – even when tackling gradual inclines of up to 15%. It also charges fully in just one-two hours and uses very little energy, meaning you can travel as far as 15km on a single charge.
Available in five colour options (black, red, white, pink or blue), the Smart Glider has intuitive, touch-sensitive pads that automatically trigger the motor when stepped on, and you simply lean forward or backwards to make it move. Described by Future Wheels as being ‘like a skateboard with a motor or a Segway without handlebars’, the easy-to-use gizmo is designed to appeal to children and adults alike. Priced at £399.99, it also costs a fraction of comparable products in the US, which retail at $1,700 (around £1,100) – and is tipped to be this year’s must-have Christmas gift.
