Corinthian Travel Launches ‘Ultimate Sri Lanka - by Helicopter’

See Sri Lanka from a chopper!

Independent specialist Corinthian Travel has introduced a new trip to Sri Lanka which offers a view of the island like no other – by helicopter!

Ultimate Sri Lanka – by Helicopter is a highly original itinerary that negates the requirement of long road journeys by using helicopter transfers which provide a bird’s-eye view of this lush, tropical island, with accommodation in some of the country’s best hotels.

The trip reveals the country’s finest attractions, with sightseeing including climbing up the iconic Sigiriya rock citadel, walks through the striking tea estates of the Hill Country, drives through remote verdant valleys, time to relax and enjoy the coconut groves and tropical beaches along the palm-fringed tropical coastline, and visits to the ancient cities that were once lost to history.

There will also be a number of opportunities throughout the itinerary to explore on two wheels, rubbing shoulders with the locals along the way including an exploration of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka’s famed ancient capital city, with its magnificent 11th century ruins.

The tour will include a visit to the Royal Palace of Vijayabahu, originally seven stories high with 1,000 chambers, the Hall of Public Audience and Gal Vihara – the rock-cut temple renowned for the images of Buddha.

Sri Lanka is also home to an abundance of wildlife and there will be a chance to take a jeep safari inside Minneriya National Park to spot wild Asian elephants in their natural habitat. The park is also home to 24 species of mammals, 160 species of birds, 9 species of amphibians, 25 species of reptiles, 26 species of fish, and 75 species of butterflies.

The busy itinerary (though the helicopter saves lots of tedious transfer time) also includes three nights surrounded by wilderness at the award-winning Jetwing Vil Uyana in the Cultural Triangle, three nights at the sophisticated Ceylon Trails - a collection of colonial-era planter’s bungalows that has been immaculately restored to their former glory – and four nights in a Suite/Ocean Suite with private pool at Amanwella – a chic, luxurious beach-front retreat on Sri Lanka’s picturesque south coast. The itinerary ends with a night at the stylish Residence by Uga Escapes in Colombo.

The holiday costs from £6795 pp (two sharing) which includes VIP airport transfers, 11 nights’ B&B in very good hotels (plus three lunches and three dinners), sightseeing and entrances as per the itinerary, four private helicopter transfers and a private, English-speaking chauffeur (international flights not included - bookable through Corinthian Travel on request).
