Energy bills are falling but by switching to a new home in Hinckley rather than simply changing supplier, homeowners could pocket further savings.

Figures from the Department of Energy and Climate Change show that average annual household gas and electricity bills fell by £45 in 2015.

While the change is attributed to increased competition and consumers shopping around, there’s potential to save £1,332 a year by moving to a brand new Redrow home at Park View in Hinckley.

Pauline Turnbull, sales director for Redrow Homes (Midlands), said: “January and February are traditionally the coldest months of the year, but with homes at Park View almost ready to move into those who act now could soon be enjoying a warmer winter. Our homes are built with increased airtightness to significantly reduce the amount of heat lost, making them 54% better at reducing heat loss than a typical 1970s’ home.

“What’s more, many of our homes are fitted with smart meters so that customers can keep an eye on how much energy they’re using, putting them much more in control of their energy use and therefore allowing the new homebuyer to potentially save more money.”

All new Redrow homes boast a high specification as standard including kitchens that are well equipped with integrated top brand name appliances, bathrooms and en-suites with sleek stylish suites, plus quality fixtures and fittings throughout.

The homebuilder has previously calculated that those who opt for a brand new four-bedroom Redrow home could save up to £1,332 per annum on their energy bills compared to an upgraded Victorian equivalent. It could pay for an extra family holiday, fuel for the family car, or, maybe be put towards paying off the mortgage early.

Here’s how the potential savings add up:

House type Energy cost per year Energy cost per month
Victorian 4 bed semi (with modern day improvements) £2,379* £198.25*
Redrow Richmond 4 bed detached £1,047** £87,25**
Savings £1,332 £111

The new homes at Park View are being built close to the green spaces and sports pitches of Clarendon Park with local shops on Rugby Road to cater for homeowners’ daily needs. The town centre is within walking distance, offering a wider choice of shops, plus regular markets.

With Westfield Infants and Junior Schools less than 10 minutes’ walk away, the homes are ideal for buyers with children.

The local train station is just a five minute drive or 15 minute walk away. Trains whisk passengers to Leicester in under 20 minutes, Birmingham in 35 minutes and Coventry within an hour. Even London can be reached within 90 minutes, including driving to the station.

Show homes at Park View are open daily from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information see redrow.co.uk/parkview.
