Creative types often look to launch their start-ups from home and last year 52,000 undergraduates had already began running their own businesses even before leaving university, in industries ranging from marketing, IT and fashion design, according to the Higher Education Statistics Agency. Since 2010 there has been an increase of 760,000 businesses in the UK, according to a Government report that highlights starting your own business does not have to only be a dream. Furthermore, according to TUC the number of Britons opting to work from home has risen by 800,000 people in last decade, bringing the total figure to 4.2 million.

Now aspiring business owners can have their own home and office workspace as developers Bellway launch four new live/work apartments at Lawrence Square in Tottenham. Located within the London Borough of Haringey, a popular area for hipsters looking to set up new businesses including cafes, pubs and pop-ups, Tottenham is tipped as a new property hotspot due to its affordability compared to alternative hipster hangouts Dalston, Stoke Newington and London Fields which have seen significant house price increases.

The two-bedroom live/work homes at Lawrence Square offer over 600 sq ft of workspace on the ground floor level with ample storage space, a kitchenette area and a separate cloakroom. The apartments on the first floor, above the workspace, and have been designed to simultaneously offer both a home and work space for purchasers who want to work from home and still have easy access to a zone 3 commute. The live/work apartments also offer two a family bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen/living area that extends to the outdoors with a large balcony. The homes offer a high specification, some on-site parking and a private gym.

Kevin Bowles, Sales Manager of Bellway Homes North London, comments: “Live/work homes are ideal for young creatives, who want to start their own business and still be based in the capital.

“The Live/work units offer the best of both worlds, enabling people to work from home, save money on commuting and renting office space, while remaining close to their roots in an up and coming part of London.”

Lawrence Square is located in the vastly rejuvenated area of Tottenham, where ambitious plans are already underway that are set to deliver 10,000 new homes, create 5,000 jobs and a million square feet of employment space between now and 2025. Tottenham Green and Seven Sisters will become focal points for public and civic life in the area, with an emerging café culture and venues for performance, events and commerce helping foster vibrant neighbourhoods and building on the local sense of community and pride.

Bellway’s new live/work homes benefit from the proximity of the Victoria line at Seven Sisters railway station just a short walk away, ideal for home workers who still need to commute occasionally. From here it is just an eight-minute journey to King’s Cross St Pancras and as little as 16 minutes to Victoria station.

On the doorstep is Downhills Park, which provides open expanses of parkland, formal gardens, tennis courts and a café. Also within easy reach are Finsbury Park and Alexandra Park, which host events, festivals, farmers’ markets and high profile concerts in their expansive green parklands.

Prices for the live/work apartments start from £399,995 for a one bedroom apartment. To register your interest visit bellway.co.uk/north-london.
