Being close to work is many people’s priority when looking for a new home. A report from the TUC has shown that millions are commuting for longer than 2 hours per day, up 72% in the last decade. Long commutes are particularly hard for key workers, who often work shifts and long hours. Genesis understands the pressure this employment group are under and is introducing a new rental price at its Stoke Quay development, exclusively for key workers. Those who qualify will pay 20% less than the usual monthly rent, with a two bedroom apartment from £500pcm instead of £625pcm.

The new rate will be available to all clinical NHS staff (including nurses and paramedics), teachers and nursery staff, police officers and community support officers, firefighters, prison officers and probation service staff, Armed Forces personnel, social workers and those employed by local authorities and the public sector. Total household income is also limited to £80,000 per annum.

Genesis’ Stoke Quay development in Ipswich’s River Orwell marina offers a range of rental apartments within close proximity to the town centre and train station, plus a number of schools, the police and fire stations and the Ipswich Hospital, offering a significantly shorter commute for key workers.

Paul Negi, Markets and Business Development Director at Genesis, explains: “Key workers, particularly emergency staff, are often on call and need to get in quickly, so being close to work can make a big difference to them. As an organisation that puts community first, we wanted to offer something special to these important and hardworking people. Being close to the town centre, with great transport links, plus this new price, Stoke Quay will hopefully make that difference.”

Genesis is one of the leading housing providers in the UK, operating as a landlord and a developer of shared ownership and private sale homes. Renting with Genesis offers tenants added security and stability, with tenancies in a choice of lengths, ranging from one to five years, subject to availability. Tenants will find a selection of stylish apartments at Stoke Quay ready for occupation now, offering modern living in a sought-after location by the marina. All homes come with a high standard specification, including contemporary fitted kitchens incorporating a range of appliances including washing machine and fridge/freezer. Living areas are open plan, with ample kitchen/dining space and large windows and glazing to make the most of natural light. The bathrooms include high quality white suites with bath/showers and basins.

Stoke Quay’s location close to the centre of Ipswich makes the new homes ideal for enjoying the best of the town. Ipswich has three theatres and a high street boasting a wealth of shops, as well as some of the most historic buildings in Suffolk. Hollywells and Gippeswyk Parks are also close by for those who love the outdoors.
